:coffee:...Welcome to the month of December.
We will get thorough this one. Here in Indiana everyone is doing so much to make it happen. So join us for a great adventure with your local area weather news. Currently we have mostly clear sky and 19°F. The wind chill is making it feel like 12°F.

Now that Thanksgiving is over let's advance to the Christmas Season. The wife put up most of the decorations for the house yesterday. I might say it is beautiful. She's a real gem for me.

Today is going to be another cold day for us.
High of 27°F with some sunshine.
Low at 14°F. We have just a very lite dusting of snow on the ground.

The Spyder is sleeping well in the barn. The time had come to do it. ....:spyder:

As always be careful about your Post Up. This is the family rated forum. I am ready for any weather news from your local area.

Stay Healthy and Be Warm. ....

We've just started Summer here in South Oz, altho it hasn't been really all that hot yet and we're still getting lotsa rain... Some parts of the Country, especially up in Qld, have been copping a lot - as much as 265mm in the last 24 hours; while other parts of the Eastern States are flooding and getting more rain in just a few hours than they'd usually have seen so far in the year!! And the humidity here in my part of South Oz has been bloody awful so far this Spring/Summer - usually by this time of year we'd be surprised to see the humidity here reaching as high as 30%, but we're still regularly hitting 100%, even on days where the temps are in the mid 30's °C!! :cus:

There's a few days forecast to hit 38°C or higher in the next week or so, and it looks like things'll be starting to warm up properly by Christmas - but BoM is telling us that it still looks like the humidity is gonna be up there in the 90+% range at least until January - and I'm not looking forward to that! :yikes:

Here it has been not to bad, just some dusting of snow over the last few days.
A few hours north though, they got over three feet of the stuff. :gaah:

Happy December. Winter is coming. For some of you, and glad it is not me, winter has arrived with a vengeance. It has been cold here (20's) but it is doable for me. We still have some green patches in the grass and fields, but they are browning up as I speak.

The good news, Winter begins officially on the 21st. That is the shortest day of the year, then the days will start to get longer again. Here, by the end of February, Spring will start kicking in. I used to remember Dec 21 well when living in Alaska. The sun did not come up in Anchorage until 10:00 AM, and it went down about 3:30 PM. That sure got my attention the first year there. (2001). And there were parts farther North that did not have any daylight for a few weeks.

Monday 12/2/24

:gaah:...Well yesterday's sunshine was nice to see but it was still a very cold day. December 21st is the first day of Winter here in Indiana. Currently cloudy sky and 14°F. The wind chill makes it feel like 9°F.

High today of 27°F with clouds.
Low at 13°F. Stay Healthy.

We can get thorough this season one day at a time. I try to adjust with the temperatures as best possible. Cold weather is just not my favorite thing. Till Next Time. ....

December is starting off with perfect winter weather here in the desert. High temperatures near 80 today and for the next week or so. There are no clouds. Breeze is 5 MPH or less. Lots of Christmas lights and displays going up in the community. Makes for a delightful golf cart evening cruise. Stay safe..... Jim

Tuesday 12/03/24

:coffee:....Well today is going to be about the same as yesterday. Currently it is clear sky and 16°F. We received about a quarter inch of snow last night.

Today's numbers are 30°F with sunshine.
Low at 22°F.

I hope you have a Sunny Day. ....

The current temp in Vermont is 24 degrees with light fog.

We will be having more winter action this week. A compact, fast moving "Clipper" system will be zipping through the Northeast with a good hit of snow, wind, and COLD!

It will be fairly quiet overnight with a few snow showers tapering off and skies clearing out a bit on Wednesday morning.

As the clipper starts to close in on us, a few snow showers early on Wednesday will become heavier and steadier as we go through the afternoon and evening. Periods of snow could be heavy at times Wednesday night into Thursday, especially in the higher elevations.

As the clipper moves off to the east Thursday night into Friday morning, winds will shift around from south to the northwest and becomes strong and gusty. Those winds will blow and drift the snow, making driving hazardous a reduced visibilities and slick roads.

Those blustery winds will also bring a blast of Arctic Air. Friday will have wind chills ( those "feel like" temps) down in the single digits, both above -and below zero.

By Friday morning most of us will receive a fresh coating of 3" to 6" inch's of snow. There could be as much as 10" inches of snow in the mountains( my sled is getting restless!!!!!!!). The Champlain Valley will have a bit less, accumulating only 1"-3" inches of snow.

The wind will settle down as we head into the weekend, which is looking not too bad with partly sunny skies each day. But it will still be a bit on the unsettled side with a few showers possible, mainly in the higher elevations.

It will start to warm up again for the start of next week as a frontal system comes this way. That system will bring more snow, but it will also be warm enough for a transition to rain showers. There may also be some sleet and freezing rain with that system .

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Stay healthy!

:coffee:...Well I am tired of all these Cold temperatures. It just makes my body feel terrible. That's all I am going to say. Sooooooo if you need some Cold and Snow let me know.

Currently cloudy sky and 26°F, and the wind chill is making it feel like 15°F. Maybe get some more rain and snow showers tonight. I sure hope my local area gets a pass.

Today's high will be 39°F with clouds.
Low at 11°F.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day. ....

:shemademe_smilie:... Remember Christmas is only 3 weeks away. Season Greetings to all.

Reading the reports from y'all just makes me shiver! I'm (almost) a little embarrassed to report. But, here's what's happening in the desert today. Currently 65 degrees. The high will be 78 and the overnight low will be 52. There is a nice gentle 3 MPH breeze and there are no clouds in sight. Going to put up a few Christmas lights this morning and planning to put a coat of wax on the convertible this afternoon. Stay safe (and warm)..... Jim

The current temp here in Vermont is 29 degrees.

We have Weather Alerts that are in effect - they are:

Winter Storm Warning (Southern part of Vermont) - a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for New Hampshire and all of Vermont from Wednesday night into Thursday. An Alberta Clipper-like system will approach the region tonight and strengthen as it nears the Gulf of Maine.
What: Snow is expected. Total snow accumulations between 3" and 7 " inches.
Where: Portions of South Central, West Central, Western Maine, and Central, Northern, and Southern New Hampshire.
When: From 7 PM tonight to noon EST Thursday

*** Although snowfall amounts will be light, travel will still effected due to snowfall accumulations on untreated roads; periods of moderate and heavy snow will continue with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisories for all of Vermont - from Tonight at 7PM to 1 AM EST Friday, snow is expected. Total snow accumulations between 3" to 8" inches with locally higher amounts in the mountains. Wind gusts as high as 40 mph.
Where: Portions of Northern New York and all of Northern and Central Vermont outside of the Champlain Valley.
Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact this evening's commute, as well as both the morning and evening commutes on Thursday. Also, multiple rounds of snow are expected during the weather event.

We will have some winter weather coming this way as a Clipper System approaches from the West. Snow showers will be increasing as we go through the rest of the evening and into overnight. It will be breezy out of the South through much of the night, blowing the snow across the roads and walkways. Those South winds will ease up a bit towards Thursday morning.

We will be getting more snow on Thursday as the Clipper System moves overhead. We will also have some snow squalls through the day, which will create slick driving conditions in very little time.

The snow will be tapering off on Thursday night. We will still have high wind gusts of 40 MPH Thursday night into Friday.

Then next week, the temps will be bouncing back to the upper 30's and 40's. The weather next week will be more active, we could get sleet/freezing rain in some spots early next week.

**** Where has this year Gone!!! ****

Happy Holidays to everyone!

:coffee: First off, you people getting all of the snow. Is your Sled season happening?
A friend in upper Michigan has been enjoying his snow sled.

Indiana really doesn't get enough seasonal snow to make it happen. I have several northern Indiana buddies who have sleds. They usually have to drive into northern Michigan for the real fun.

Currently cloudy sky and 16°F. Wind chill is 9°F.

High of 23°F and mostly sunny.
Low at 12°F. Just another cold day.

Try to keep warm and be Healthy. ....

Still riding here. It was in the low 60’s Tuesday and forecasted to be the same Saturday. Got some errands done on the Spyder and plan on maybe riding the Hills Saturday. Saw a guy in a Santa suit on a motorcycle while I was running errands, wish I could have gotten a picture.

HI Little Blue,

Here in Vermont the snowmobile season has not started yet, we have to wait until the snowmobile trails open up (Dec. 15th), get groomed, and only then can we ride. I hope that we don't get a big warm up (weather wise, as has happened in the past years). When that happens, they shut the snowmobile trails down until we get more snow before they open them back up again.

Now, back to the weather - Friday here in Vermont, the weather will be blustery and COLD! We will be getting more snow overnight tonight. An additional 2" to 5" of snow could pile up in the mountains. It will be cold tonight and into the day on Friday.

The weekend will remain unsettled with a disturbance coming through on Friday night and on into Saturday with a few more snow showers. We will have another burst of snow again late Saturday into Sunday.

On Sunday, the temps will start to warm up, heading into the 30's to 40" and we will get a variety of rain and snow.

The current temp is 34 degrees.

:gaah:...December 15 is only 9 days away. I know that snow and warm temperatures are not very friendly.
Hope you get a good season to go sledding. ...

Currently overcast sky and 18°F. Wind chill factor makes it feel like 9°F. It is supposed to be a little warmer today. That's what my weather news people are saying. They are always right. ....:roflblack:...:roflblack:

Today's numbers are 28°F, with mostly sunshine.
Low at 17°F. No Snow here for now.
Remember to dress for the weather conditions.
Hats and gloves are a good thing.

I hope you can enjoy the season.
Till next time. ....

Well here in Vermont we had blustery winds that we had to deal with today. They will be easing up as we get into the overnight hours, but it will still remain on the cold side. A few snow showers will come through overnight, mainly in the mountains. After a few lingering flurries in the mountains in the morning on Saturday, the rest of the afternoon will feature some sunny breaks.

But more weather action is on the way after that. A warm front will be moving in late Saturday into Sunday with another round of snow shower activity. The area around me will be getting a dusting up to an inch or so of snow, but the mountains could get another 2" - 4" or more. The best spot will be Northern NY, closer to St. Lawrence Valley, where there could be up to 7" inches of snow. There could also be some rain showers later in the day in the valleys.

There will be a lull in the action late Sunday into Monday. But then we'll get right back into the active winter weather by the end of the day, and it will stay that way right through the end of next week.

A series of disturbances will come through next week. Temps will be bouncing back and forth between above and below freezing. That means we will get periods of rain, snow, and some freezing rain from time to time. Roads and walkways could be hazardous at several points during the week.

The current temp is 17 degrees, and mostly cloudy.

I hope we have a good 2024/2025 snowmobile season, but it will depend on the weather. Last year, we got snow, then had a warm-up, then snow, then a warm-up, then the snowmobile season ended...
