Well here in Vermont, a messy significant storm will impact our region from late this afternoon right into early Monday morning. The bulk of the storm will be through the day on Sunday.
Most of day will be cloudy and tranquil, then snow will start to overspread the area late afternoon into early evening. The snow will continue overnight into Sunday morning, with 2 to 5" inches likely by then.
Heading into late Sunday morning, the snow is expected to mix with sleet, especially in Vermont and New Hampshire, and especially in Southern parts of the region. For the afternoon, some freezing rain may mix in, especially in Southern parts of Vermont. This all will taper off to snow showers Sunday night, with scattered snow showers continuing Monday. One change is that potentially damaging wind is possible in the Southern part of Vermont during the day, with gusts from the East to 60 MPH. The Western slopes of the Green Mountains may have gusts to 55 MPH. As the system moves out, winds may gust from the West to 40 MPH overnight, so power outages are possible with snow/mix clinging to trees.
Accumulation is expected to be 6-12" inches for Northern portions of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont. The valley's and Southern areas will have closer to 4-8" inches due to more sleet and freezing rain mixing in. Southern areas may also have a quarter of an inch of ice. The road crews are out and they are doing their jobs!
Then next week will be quiet, with cold weather on the way into the middle of the week, bringing highs mainly in the teens and lows a few degrees above and below zero. Then we might get an other storm on Thursday, but that is expected to stay East in the Atlantic. Some snow showers are expected on Friday, but highs will be getting warmer and reaching into the mid to upper 20's.
The current temp is 19 degrees and snowing. The Nor-Easter snowstorm predicted earlier is here!
I am OK, and safe!
