Well, here in Vermont, we have a little over a week to go before it is the first day of Winter (Dec. 21st), but it will certainly be feeling like the dead of Winter for the first part of the weekend.
Skies will be clearing out for the most part of overnight, the winds will die down, and that will set us up for some good radiational cooling - when any warmth in the air just radiates out into space. Bottom line it will be "Cold overnight (tonight) and even colder on Saturday night after a mostly sunny day to start the weekend".
The first half of Saturday will continue to feature lots of sunshine. Then clouds will be on the increase late in the day as a system approaches from the West. This system will be tracking mainly to our South, but it could kick up a few rain or snow showers along the way.
Then a stronger system will move in on Monday night into Tuesday. It will turn out of the South on Monday night as temps rise (this is not good for the start of the snowmobile season which is on Dec. 15th). Tuesday will be mild (temps in the 50's), but also rainy. As the system moves away, the rain may end up as some sleet and/or snow on Tuesday night.
There will be a break in the action on Wednesday, before another stronger system tries to get itself organized for late week, heading into the weekend (before Christmas).
