• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

 Re set my toe-in to 1 inch on the front wheels of my 2014 RTL. Only took about 1/2 hour after getting the front end up on jack stands. It really eliminated the slight tendency to drift off a straight line at highway speeds. The 1/4 inch setting I used after installing my Baja Ron sway bar last year was not quite right. Test rode it up to 75 mph on straight smooth highway; and it feels a lot more steady and no wandering in windy conditions. All I needed was a couple of combination wrenches, and my 1/2 inch air impact gun with a 3/4" universal socket to remove the tie rod ends. I extended each one 1 full turn and bolted it all back together. I used my trusty tape measure to measure the difference at the scribe marks on the front of tires.
Then took the tape measure to the scribe marks at the rear of the tires. Yep! .... 1 inch closer in front than back. Lamonster's video recommends 1" toe-in as well. This method is the same that we used to set toe-in on all our big rigs and smaller trucks at the shop I worked in many years ago. Still works well.

Mounted a dual USB into the blank switch on my ‘20 RTL. Dremeled the blank switch plate to fit, connected power via the heated bars.

Aug. 10, 2021

I just moved my EZ pass control to the inside of the Frunk lid. Used velcro and mounted it just below the metal pipe for the lock.

Not today, but last Sunday, I went over to my grandson's and took his kids (my great grandkids, 11 & 14) for Spyder rides on hilly, twisty, steep roads close to their home. There are some good things about living in Portland. I could not take the curves fast enough for those two speed demons. We were all having so much fun, I forgot to take photos. Sorry.

Walked by it twice again today...on the way to the truck to go to work, and again getting home from work. Mother Nature is pi$$ed off about something here lately. Finally nice weather coming up though.

.

Well, I finally got it back from the shop. Had to attend to a few things like putting the bumpskid back on and pulling the dash to connect the analog gauges. All fixed after 3 ( yes three) plastic water pumps. Breakfast in down then a ryde out to Verdi, Nv.

Looked at it in frustration. Its the first time in a while that I've had enough time to use the darn thing but we are in lockdown

My s2s is at the dealership for it's 3k miles service. Got a call saying that the left front brake is warped, and the rear tire looks like a racing slick.

I'm surprised a tire can die that fast, i bought the ride in may...
Definitely blaming the pedalbox i got from Martin Slovakia's Shop 😂

Gotta keep an eye on the new tire, and change my driving habits. At least regarding the acceleration from traffic lights. Lol

The "Might as well, I'm in here already" thought process...

2010 Spyder RTS (neglected by previous owners) with 69880 on the clock.

So what did I do to my wife's Spyder today? Well, not in one day but in one sitting... It started with wanting to replace the plugs. Then the "Might as well, I'm in here already" thought process kicked in. It gets me every time!

Replace the Factory plugs (originals I am told) with DCPR8EIX NGK's
Replaced the fuel filter (Original I am told)
Replaced the 2 MAP vac lines (inspected all others)
Replaced the dim headlights with new LED ones. Big difference!
Replaced the fog (driving) lights with LED too
Coolant flush and fill and vacuumed out the bottom of the radiator
Removed about 35 feet of previous owners(s) messed up wiring crap
Removed all strip LED's
Installed 5 missing Torx #30 bolts
installed 6 missing push pin panel fasteners
installed new "blinker" led indicators for better visibility when their on
Installed a new LED alarm indicator and switch
Built a 1/8 phono to DIN adapter for the Bluetooth
Installed a Bluetooth adapter to stream music from the phones

It was a real "get to know your bike" session. I learned a lot.

Holy Christmas Tim, you could start your own 'Spyder fix/upgrade' biz, well done.

Thanks Biker Bill...

I have been restoring bikes (mainly Goldwings) for many years from the frame up. I have an electrical/electronic/computer/IT engineering/large printer background and enjoy learning new things.

If we decide to keep the Spyder, my next Dog and Pony trick is to create and add a custom idiot light display on the underneath of the dash where the current "Safety Pullout" resides. I can easily 3D print a framework where I will add icon LED lights for the following:

High Temp
ABS
Battery
Brake
Check Engine
Oil
Gas

I don't know about other owner's ability to see the trouble lights but I can barely see them when sitting on the bike in average daylight conditions. The LED's that light them up are dim to start with and not lined up with the average persons eyes. I can't even make out what icon is lit up.

The other day when the bike was all back together I took it out for a 200km test drive and the gas indicator came on. Crap that one is dim and misaligned. I piled on the brakes and got stopped in record time. I thought it was the oil light. Yikes!!

I can easily remove the instrument cluster, tear it down and add another connector to the outside world where I can add my own electronics to light my own, proper LED indicators.

I installed the Ultimate Seat on my 2019 F3L a year ago. Since then, I've been trading the Mustang seat backrest that's on my Honda Shadow between the Shadow and the Spider since then, depending on which bike I'm riding. Fits both perfectly.

This week I finally got and installed the Ultimate Seat Driver's Backrest that is intended to go with the seat. All I can say is ahhhhhhhhhh. It's much thicker and more comfortable than the Mustang backrest. I really feel like I am riding a La-Z-Boy now.

Fixed the poor workmanship from the dealer that fixed my water pump.
1. Both horn relay wires ( + and - ) were connected to the + terminal of the new battery.
2. connection for the combo fogs and driving lights were pulled apart near the comp. hook up at just above the radiator reservoir cap.
3. 360# headlight fan not working and light not working right ( an amazing coincidence). We'll see if TricLED will back up their product.

Rode my RTL to Prosser an ate bbq for lunch at Neighbors BBQ. Took wife with me or she would of been a very unhappy wife. Was pretty smokey out from the fire northwest of Yakima. I'l go out in a bit an clean the bugs off my RTL so it be ready to go on another ride tomorrow. Maybe head north out of Yakima take the canyon rd. up to Ellensburg then over to Vantage an back.

Installed the BajaRon anti-sway bar. Ended up getting the HF motorcycle lift to get the job done. The lift worked perfectly. It comes with extensions for the pads and it got it up the right height to remove/install the bar. For the price($189) it was a good investment. I plan on doing all my own servicing so I'm sure I'll be using it again. The trike is a little wobbly so I won't be doing any heavy wrenching until I can either tie it down or put it on jack stands.
