• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I am feeling much better today. Just wanted to try and enjoy the 'New Year Eve'. My body is not doing the job very well. I guess that means I'm aged out more than I wanted to accept.

This is the 'Updated' version of the 'Your weather News for January 2025. Please use this section and Not the other one.

Maybe a moderator can help us with this issue. Thank you in advance.

Friday 1/03/25
Well yesterday's little bit of sunshine was nice. The temperatures are starting to drop off some moving forward. Currently we have overcast sky at 22°F with a wind chill of 15°F.

Today numbers are 24°F for the high. Low at 10°F. Now we are talking about some bone chilling weather.

Have a Blessed Day and Stay Healthy. (y)

I am not finding the "old" version of January. I guess someone beat me to it. We have had 40's during the day. However, it feels a whole like 20's to Linda and I.

I'm still seeing the old version as a banner at the top titled Headlines.

But, on to more important stuff..... Today it will be 81 degrees here in the desert. Sunshine is filtered by high thin clouds. The breeze is at 3 MPH. Overnight low will be 50. A cooling trend is forecast for tomorrow. Looks like we'll be down to about 70 degrees. Still not too bad! Stay safe..... Jim

Sorry Blue, I tried to move post from news headlines to this post (Merge)but lost all the post. New tools here on the new site can act a little strange, still working on some tools. Anyway, its 33F and snowing. The snow will not amount to much.

Second Chance for a better New Year. January 29th will be Chinese New Year of 2025. I spent many years in the Pacific Operational Area when I was younger. The Chinese New Year parades and celebrations were the biggest holiday events of the beginning of each year, I always tried to arrange to be in a good location on the route of the Chinese New Year parades, no matter which Asian country I happen to be in that year. Second floor bacony was an ideal place to see everything, as the parades went past your spot. Pre-arranging a table on the balcony of a restaurant was not that much of a problem. Got a table and seats with a great meal to enjoy while watching the parades. I have some good memories of the Chinese New Year Celebrations from the years I was assigned to PACAF.

For those not familiar with the Chinese New Year Celebrations here is a short explanation;
The Chinese zodiac, as an essential part of Chinese culture, started to take shape during the Han Dynasty. This era formalizes a twelve-year cycle, where each year is associated with a specific animal, as part of a timekeeping system. This system, known as the zodiac cycle, combined the twelve Earthly Branches (地支) with the ten Heavenly Stems (天干) to create a total of a 60-year cycle. Each Earthly Branch was linked to an animal, and to the twelve zodiac signs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. This year is the year of the Snake.

According to legend, the Jade Emperor held a contest to decide which animals would be lucky enough to be included in the calendar. The winner of the race – the rat – received the first year of the 12-year cycle, and so on. and each of the twelve animals corresponded one of the twelve branches. People born in any given year have animals belonging to that branch of the earth, and accordingly, twelve animals are used for chronology and the genus of each person.

It is similar to the Western Zodiac where a persons individual traits are determined by which Zodiac Sign he or she was born under. There are many very detailed explanations of how the Chinese Zodiac works on the Internet, if you are interested in finding out more. YearOfTheSnake.jpgBirth Years.jpg

To find out which Chinese Zodiac Animal your birth year represents, just locate the year you were born on chart. Your Chinese Zodiac Animal will be on the top of the column where you found your birth year.

Thanks for the heads-up! 1951 "whats up Doc"

Thanks to the amazing technology of the Internet you don't need to stay up late to watch the parades happening on the other side of the world. Most of the best Lunar New Year parades will be on Utube around the end of January. You can even see some of the parades and celbrations from last year, still running on Utube. Chose a good city and put you search parimeters in the Utube search box. Some of the best will be Sydney, Shanghi, Hong Kong, Tainan, and any of the major cities on the mainland. Even the Phillipines and many of the other island nations have some amazing and colorful celebrations. In person is always best, but if you can't be there live, travel to exotic locations, and celebrate the holidays, with your computer.

Weekend Weather from Indiana. Currently partly cloudy sky at 15°F.
Suppose to stay 'bone cold' 🥶 for a while now. Maybe get some snow showers this weekend. Indiana could be hit with 3" to 4" by Monday morning. All of the 'crazy' drivers will be causing accidents and such.

I for one will relaxing inside reading a good book. The wife has been checking out the various vacations opportunities. She loves to plan and go. Thinking about going 'East'..

Now for my local area weather news.
Today we will be seeing 25°F for the high.
Today's low at 16°F.

Sunday's High of 24°F.
Low at 20°F.
Some snow showers and freezing rain.

Stay Healthy and Be Warm. (y)

Currently 14f here in Powell, Wyoming with a high today of 16f.
I am moving to Western Washington, specifically the Olympic Peninsula.
Tired of the deep cold winters, and very hot summers, and wind wind wind.
Going to try a little warmer winters though wetter, and much cooler summers.
Also much more fishing, and crabbing!!

We are about a hundred miles South of the storm crossing the Midwest. Cloudy, cold etc.

Neil, send me a direct message and we can continue the conversation.

As predicted, we cooled down to about 70 degrees today here in the desert. Tomorrow will be about the same. Then we'll cool off even more into the low 60s next week. No rain in the forecast. Just cool sunny days. The last recorded precipitation for our area was last August 22nd, nearly 4 and a half months ago! Planning outdoor activities can be done with a pretty good degree of certainty. Had a car club activity today and kept the top up on the convertible with the heater on this morning. But, by afternoon it was nothing but sunglasses and top down weather. (But still had the heater blowing on my toes). Stay safe..... Jim

I won't tell any of you what my weather is like.
It would just make you cry.
Oh, go ahead and make us cry.
Now with the internet and media I have enjoyed weather news from all around the World.
That is why I wanted to do this Weather News.

A big Thanks for all of your posts. (y)

My Local Weather conditions are much about the snow ❄️ 😐. Yesterday's storm dumped 4+ inches of snow. It looks good but it will be a bit of a job to clean up. Currently we have cloudy sky at 19°F, with a wind chill makes it feel like 7°F.

Today high of 23°F and chance of morning snow ❄️.
Low at 19°F.
Well this is the season for the 'White' stuff. I hope all you 'sledders' are able to enjoy. Please be careful about your travel and your health.

Till Next Time (y)
