Why don't they waive??

Jen, in NJ we're to busy dodging cars to always think about waiving but I hear what you're saying. All kidding aside it's about 50/50

OK everyone staying at the BW for Spyderfest there will be a Happy Hour wave in front of the Hotel Friday night on the street starting at 5 PM or after the first drink. This will last for 15 minutes and is meant to benefit everyone who felt left out in the wave department. You will continue around the block for the full fifteen minutes and we will all wave at you for the entire fifteen minutes.

Cruzr Joe will direct the crowd and Bob Denman will count the number of waves. Any left over waves will be put in the bank to be held by Bob, Hermetically sealed, and distributed at next years Spyderfest. Be there or be Square!

I like the way you think. It works for me. :roflblack::roflblack:

It matters not whether they wave. Who cares really? If you want to wave feel free to do so. Don't expect any thing and you will never be disappointed. Don't know why you would expect everyone to wave to you anyway. Get over it! Seriously!

I have so many people wave at me it's becoming a nuisance. I'm beginning to think my Fly is open or something!
:joke:

Look at it this way, if the enjoyment of your ride depends on someone waving at you, perhaps your riding for the wrong reasons. The ride is not between you and others, it's between you and what you are riding. Think about it. Get your warm fuzzy's at your destination.

Jack

Jack---your fly was open:opps: Now people will think we're related :-=)

Just saw this

http://www.bikebandit.com/blog/post/when-not-to-do-the-motorcycle-wave
Rundown: When shouldn't you do "the wave?"

  1. Anytime you need to use the controls
  2. When you're riding hard/taking corners
  3. At a major bike meet/ride
  4. While commuting
  5. At intersections
  6. To trikes and Can-Ams

Here's another thread, specifically about Can-Ams. Pretty funny, since SV650s are considered beginner bikes.

I saw that article a year ago and total BS if you ask me...

Most bikers waive to us, Harley and Goldwing crowd.. I find the sportbikers(crotch rockets) dont waive.. Maybe cause they afraid to LET GO of the handlebars?? Do we waive at the folks on there Vespa's (scooters)???

Odd, I get more from the sports bikes out here than Harley riders.... But not really by much. I would say 90% of all riders out here wave.

Bob

I'm not sure it matters what you ride, as much as what you're wearing....I get less waves from the non-helmet-and gear wearing folk, than those who are protected....Why??? Who knows, and really, who cares? LOL If you like bugs up your nose and in your teeth, have at 'er, but wearing two bandanas on your head and over your face to stay clean and warm.....well...kinda makes ya look a bit silly....LOL..

Normally I don't. However, there are exceptions. I find that I point/wave at spyder riders more than anyone.

Chris

Most waive at me, but some don't. Who the hell cares? I ride with a pretty hard core bike club and EVERYONE waives while I'll with them. Once we split at the end of rides some (almost always Harley's) think they are too cool. Since Kindergarten was long, long ago just ignore it. We are out there to have fun and need to realize that just as with car drivers there are a lot of idiots out there on bikes.:doorag:

On that score, this recent exchange was on a Facebook rally page after a hotel said they were happy for us to park our bikes in the bar overnight if we were staying...

Why Harley riders don't wave...

I normally ride a sport bike. Before this I had a Harley. While riding the sport bike, I might not get a waive from the hard core bikers, but most still waive.

Yesterday was a nice day with lots of bikes out. I waive to everyone. If I had to estimate, maybe 10-20% waived back. My husband was on a cruiser. I asked him and nearly all waived to him. Really?!!

On my ride to NY to PA, the first bikes I came across were a pair of sport bike riders. They waved.

Since I'm used to most bikers waiving, I found this a bit disconcerting. I mean , I'll live, but why the hate?!?

What has been your experience?

Because it's very difficult to hold in the clutch, hand brake, press the start button, & pray that it starts at the same time. I would know--2003 Screaming Eagle Harley Deuce & 2014 Harley Street Glide Special---both gone from my garage--2007 turbo Hayabusa & 2015 F3's remaining. F3's curved rear seat back rest perfect for riding wife & grandson's. On the turbo busa--I'd be riding solo after full throttle.

There was a video on YouTube of a girl getting blown off the back of a supersport. Granted, my bikes have "back seats," but you can't safely put more than a tail bag on the back and even that can get tricky.

Done that!

Wave to young kids on bicycles: it'll make their day!

Absolutely!! I do it every chance I get. Kids love it! I've noticed most small scooter riders don't wave. I think it may be that they are too new to the two wheeled experience or white knuckling it! :roflblack:
