• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why don't they waive??

For what it's worth it seems as most riders here in South West VA wave, even those on scooters or as we call them liquor cycles (lost license for DUI) LOL. :roflblack:

Helmet tap

I give a wave to most everyone on a bike or a trike. No matter what they ride--- it's that they ryde.

Always give the tap to the helmet if there is a speed trap ( a very often occurance on Mt Rose Hwy to catch the speeding skiers comming off the mountain).

Jen----- if they don't wave back--- just ryde on.

PS: Warning---- Sarcasim elert:
Can you just imagine all the waving at Sturgis or Street Vibations:yikes:

I will normally wave unless I am taking tight turn, changing lanes... Times when I want both hands on the bars.
Sport bike, non-Harley cruisers usually wave. I like to wave at Harley riders just to see their facial expressions, which are easy to see because they usually only wear "Skid Lids" so their faces are fully exposed.
Hey Bob, great job on your list!!!!! Comical!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Kaos: The one time I was at Sturgis in 2005, as we got closer, there were just so many bikes on the road that people really did stop waiving cause you would never have your left hand on the bike.

Wavers and Waivers

I have far less experience than the rest of you, but in Ohio, most people wave and usually in a very casual or subtle manner.
However, some of my friends who are long term bikers, many who would never ride anything but an HD have told me that the HD riders wave to let others know, "I have tools!"

My friends with GoldWings tell me that you need to watch the fingers, it denotes how many years of payments they still have remaining.

Supposedly the "Rice-Burners" are waving because they are in need of friends and companionship.

That being the statements from the owners of the respective bikes. On the flip side, they tell me that Spyder Ryders are always waving because they are looking for acceptance into the MC world and expressing some insecurities. Hey, I don't know and don't care, I wave to say hello, friend, and safe riding to 'ya!

If you don't wave back, OK by me, I still say, Hello and be Safe!

Just Sayin'! I am ryding, you are riding it is all good.

Well riding here in the Beautiful Southwest year round.
I find the majority of riders to wavy. Except Harley Street and Road Glides with there massive shields.
My wife and were just discussing that it seems we get less response from Spyder riders!
Maybe down here since most are old and retired there brains don't function well and they can't multi task.
To each his or her own.

:agree: With the information in Posts #2, 3, 12, & 20.

Linda is my "official" waver when we go riding. She waves at everyone on any type of motorcycle, scooter, or trike. Heck, she even gave a guy going alongside the road in a wheel chair a wave.

We don't worry if someone does not return a wave. I kind of like to do a Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, dog growl type of thing in the radio, and we have a laugh over it.

When we ride, the :spyder2::ani29: make us feel happy. We kind of like to share that with others of the same "faith."

Que Sera, Sera. :roflblack::roflblack: :yes::yes:

Minnesota Nice!!! I try waive to all bikers when possible......... More fun to waive at Harley Riders to see their reaction, usually they don't waive. :yikes:

When I used to ride a Harley, I would waive at everyone. I will live. It's amusing to see the difference while riding different bikes.

Even while riding my sport bike, Harley guys won't always wave back. Sport riders will. On my Harley, the sport bike guys wouldn't wave.

May I presume this is self inclusive?

Minority here

In SE PA it seems that about 75 to 80% of riders wave back. Most Harley riders seem to wave, as well as Goldwing riders and almost all sport bikes wave. Trike riders always wave. BMW riders! Now that is a different story, very few of them return the gesture.
I also find that I get far more waves when my wife is a passenger. HMMM!

Can't confirm the part about riding with Sharon on the back, but I'd agree almost 100% with the rest of what you said. ;)

Also, my theory is that sometimes it matters not so much on what you are riding, but what you are wearing to ride. I've noticed that I get more waives from riders who are dressed in essentially the same type of "gear" that I am riding in - which is neither armored "ATGATT" riding gear, or a leather vest and a dew rag, but rather a full face helmet and what I like to call "sensible every-day clothes for riding". Not that I really care about it. But it is an interesting observation.

I always wave; never looking for what the outcome of it is...

Reason # 1k why they don't wave at you!
They're afraid to let go of the handlebar because they think you are riding a snowmobile!

Really , is it that big of deal? I wave at all riders, regardless of the ride, trikes, hd, sport, scooters, whatever, if they return the wave ,great, if not OH WELL, at least I still had the ride.
