• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What did you do to your Spyder today?

Had absolutely zero plans for this past Saturday. Woke up around 8:00 and decided to take a quick ride around the Lake to see how much the water had gone up since the flooding. Backed the 2021 RTL out for the first time since having it serviced 10 days ago, after the 9,045 mile cross country trip. After backing out ,I see about a 10" dia spot where oil had leaked. I backed the rear tire up on a ramp and saw where the oil had dripped from. I imediately called Baker and told them about it. Drove the one hour to Fayetteville and they pulled me in right away. 5 minutes later they told me it was ready. They had leaked the drained oil onto an area under neath and forgotten to wash it off. They said everything was tight and just needed to be cleaned. I didn't believe them, but on the ride home, I remembered the oil underneath was black and dirty looking. I parked the bike over a piece of cardboard when I got home. Checked it after about 4 hours and no sign of leaks. Checked again just now and still no leaks.
Did ride the wife's F3L out for about 30 miles yesterday evening and again to the gym this morning. I gotta say, for shorter rides, her's is my favorite.

Installed/downloaded a FI map after loading on my DynoJet Power Vision 4 program. Gonna do some datalogging soon to have my bike specific map built from the gang over at Fuel Moto.

Rode from Lake Stevens, Wa to Edmonds Ferry then to Port Angeles where I grew up, looking at the homes the family had lived in. Then on to Port Townsend, touring around town waiting for a ferry to Coupeville. Crossed the Deception Pass Bridge and down to Stanwood for pizza at Jimmy's, then on back to Lake Stevens. 233 miles and two ferries. Left at 8 this morning and got back at 7:30 this evening.

Took a picture of my grandparent's home in Port Angeles, where I spent a lot of time as a kid in the 1950's, as we lived a few houses away.

It is now the "Captain Joesph House", a retreat for Gold Star families.

Got the insurance card in the trike up to date and put my passport in my jacket pocket.

Tomorrow we are riding from Lake Stevens, Washington, to Granville Island in Vancouver, Canada for lunch and back with the in-laws and their 2014 RT. About 117 miles each way. The Beard Affair looks like where we will have lunch.

I used to stay at the hotel on the end of Granville Island when I had business in Vancouver. Neat area.

Yesterday I rode South 101 then to Hwy Ca 36. Even though I knew that there were construction delays, I wanted to check it out.
Half way up 36, I saw a rider on an orange bike and I recognized the helmet and jacket. It was my Brother! I passed on the opposite side of the Hwy. Turned around, and met him at the Carlotta Ca VFD parking lot where he was waiting for me. We sat there for a while, talking motorcycles, of course.

I updated the software on my Canyon to V 4.1. I initially tried to connect to wi-fi from our old Apple home router; it did not work. The download kept stalling at about 50%. I finally gave up and connected to the modem for our internet service and everything proceeded flawlessly. I'm not sure what the issue was but the Canyon distinctly did not like the Apple router.

96 degrees F and 99% humidity makes John take the Tundra right now... 👹 This too, shall pass.
Yes, it is on the downhill side of Summer now. The days have been getting shorter since 21 June. We are well on the way to the Fall equinox.
I should add "in the Northern Hemisphere". The Southern Hemisphere has opposite seasons.

Yep, here in Oz, our days have been getting longer since 21 June, not that we've really noticed, buuut... Spring is on the way! 🥳

l know the feeling, it was was way too hot here in Wisconsin too, the humidity doesn't help matters either, supposed to get down to 59° degrees tonight according to the weather man, but it's still 80° now! lol
HI spyderladyf3,

I bet you do! It is still hot & humid here in Vermont. The humidity has been quite high. Tomorrow, they are forecasting the temps in the 70's, with rain & thunderstorms. Tonight the temp is currently 80°, and the temps are expected to drop into the 70's overnight.

Rode into the Big City, Bend, Oregon, for two doctor appointments. Inhaling smoke from fires NorthWest of us. Hot, sunny day. And I gave the bike some fuel from Costco and splurged, buying 92 octane. Not sure the bike appreciated it.

With the last couple of days having random showers and storms, I decided to take advantage of the down time to wash & wax the F3.

Last 2 mornings I have given her a coat each morning of Graphene wax before it gets too hot and I start sweating on top of my work.

Next thing I need to do is fix the cracks around the mounts on my Blue Ridge windshield that I got from the deer strike a couple of years ago. They are getting too big not to be noticed so I am saying f' it and painting it on both sides after I repair the cracks with some epoxy.

Today I finished the plumbing of my 3 gallon AUX tank on my 2022 RTLS. Now, 300 miles before a required fill is achievable. I did not see any leaks, more than I can say for myself. I had a prostatectomy last July. It is gravity feed through the main's vent. The aux tank feeds the main tank via the vent line. The OEM vent line is attached to the Aux vent.

This is the first time I have added an Aux tank to a FI with an Evap system. I would like to by pass the Evap system. I have researched and researched the Evap elimination videos but there are so many theories. I wasn't sure which lines to plug on the 1330. I looked up the install of a Camel aux tank. it was the best. I wish they made one for the Spyder.

If you try this, be ready for a challenge. Space is limited under the plastic. For now I removed the pillion seat and improvised a floor mat to cover where the pillion seat was. I attached two aluminum bars across the pillion grab rails. I secured the bars to the grab rail with U bolts with rubber coating to protect the rails. Then attached an aluminum plate to the bars. My desire was to buy a ragged a%% seat and use the seat pan. I could not find one. I did buy a used pillion seat but it was too nice to salvage. I tried to mount the bars and leaving the pillion seat on but there was not enough clearance for what I had available to use.

I'll try to send pictures. I will also try to up date on how over all successful the install was..

Please do not lecture me on safety, needing to stop often, or alternatives. I have carried fuel containers, I don't like them. I have heard all the lectures. If you have no desire for an Aux tank or longer distance to empty please do not offer your opinions.
I don't mean to be rude but I am tired of the less informed on long distance riding giving lectures or personal opinions about stopping to smoke, or rest their butt, or stretch their legs. I take care of myself on my rides. I rest where and when I want to rest/personal needs. With 300,000 miles in 15 years and 51 IBA certified rides, I think I have it figured out.

Yes, I have slowed down, gave up 2 wheels, but as my brother in law said, I am not dead yet. I am still a Mile Eater.

Here are my reasons for an aux tank:
I travel in remote areas.
I travel long distances within 24 hours.
Stations are not always open at O'dark thirty
In remote areas I have had to pray they have fuel.
I like to pick my places to stop to rest. I hate hanging around a gas station, they are for fuel and restroom, not R and R.
I want to fill the Spyder tank to the 7 gallons.
When I hit a head wind running 75 mph I like to know I can make my next scheduled fuel stop..
I wanted to see if I could do it. Plus I had 3 extra fuel tanks in my garage, 1.8 gal, 3 gal, 5 gal that I have used on previous motorcycles.
Leroy73, found your post and wanted to ask you a question, maybe a few. You will not get any lectures from me. Heck, my son thinks he knows more and gives me lectures. LOL.

My question or questions are about carrying fuel containers for long trips. I will be pulling a motorcycle trailer. I'll add a pic. My trailer, I picked up used. I had to replace the tongue due to rust, and along with the new tongue, I added a new tongue jack with a wheel. I figured when the trailer is full, the weight of the trailer and contents my reason for the tongue jack with wheel. I rewired the lights, new tires, repacked the wheel bearingd, they actually looked great. But better to repack. Added a new ball coupler with safety chains. I'd like to add a basket/holder to the tongue for gas containers.

The original tongue had a small platform to hold down an ice chest. I want to add some type of basket with sides for the gas containers. I was thinking of using the RotopaX 2 Gallon Gasoline Pack found Amazon and carry 2, giving me 4 gallons extra.
What do you think is the best gas container to use? My Spyder is a 2016 RTS SE6, Color Obital Blue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. GDoc
