• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Rebuilt the mount for my heated gear controller.
Installed my new signal cancel button - Thanks to TCBoone And Frogman Dave

Pulled both spyders out of their sheds. Checked air in the tires. Wife rode her F3L an I rode my RTL. Took freeway to Prosser and ate BBQ. Came back home on the old hiway to Yakima. Nice 120 mile ride.

Working on a wireless charging phone mount for the F3 handle bars.
Phone will be used for music and backup maps.
Should be able to install and test on Saturday provided the weather cooperates.

Installed Lamonster belt tensioner. It doesn't go nearly as smoothly as the video I watched would have you believe. Knowing there was more than ample amounts of yellow lock-tite on the OEM bolts would have helped because I would have broken out the mini torch a lot sooner.

Rode to dealer for 9300 mile oil change and full service. 27* when I started out - thank GOODNESS for modular helmet, heated gear, seats, and grips.
All systems GO... no problems found.
Did advise the rear original Kenda tire had about 2000 more miles left on it.
Had the top box shock replaced under warranty - works much better than the original. But I'm keeping my notched tree twig I used to prop it open - just in case.

Installed LED Headlights

I installed my Christmas present, LED Headlights.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for working on the Spyder.
Just took a hour from start to finish.
I had watched the U-Tube video.

Stay Healthy. ....

Not today - but this past weekend I installed a set of Tricled Afterburnerz taillights from SlingMods and replaced the BRP medallion on the frunk with a custom design I bought from a guy in Canada.

Left side stock/right side with Afterburnerz
Afterburnerz also have sequential turn signal LEDs, which is really nice.

New custom Spyder badge on frunk

Did the first, and a most important, mod to my 1-week old F3S... added a battery tender connector to the battery. I left the connector up by the coolant tank, under the service cover.

Then promptly came back inside the house, as my hands were almost numb from the cold. :coffee:

Changing out OEM to BaJa Ron's "ULTRA 3 Pcs Sway Bar"

Finally got around to changing my OEM sway bar to BaJa Ron's Ultra 3 piece. Got my RTL lifted about 20 inches placed solid on my jack stands. Knowing this wasn't high enough to get the OEM bar out, but was fine for getting it disassembled and dropped down on 1 side. Looked over the situation and said to myself, "Self, Are you ever going to put this Old OEM bar back on?" The answer was , "Hell NO!" So, a 3 second go at it with the "gas wrench" and it fell out of there in 2 pieces. Everything went back together as fast as my 72 year old "bag of bones" would allow. Job well done and can't wait till our weather straightens out so I can try it out. "Come-on Spring" Bill

Finally cleaned the Spyder after I'd hit the dirt which was left on the road by a farmer. It already smells a little bit in my garage :roflblack:
It's always a challenge cleaning the bike with high-pressure out of the wheelchair

Not specifically today but over the weekend removed the BRP shocks front and rear and fitted Wilbers shocks. Not a fun activity but done. Test ride Sunday on my 250k m test track of highways and country back roads found a few problems

  1. Cant stop grinning at how much better the 17 RTL is to ride, this isn't an incremental improvement but a huge one. As soon as I reversed out of the garage over a small ledge in the concrete, I could feel the difference in the way the shocks behaved.
  2. Because the new shocks are finally doing what suspension is supposed to, I cant stop looking down at the front wheels hugging the road.
  3. To finally have the ability to adjust compression and rebound settings is right up there with holding an overly full bladder for 10 hrs and finally getting to wee :)
  4. I have not played with any settings (seems a contradiction I know from the above comment) because the calibration by Wilbers based on my weight and riding prefs is spot on. This will change when my copilot comes for a ride who's weight has been factored in too

They are pronounced as Wilbers - but you should pronounce the same way Homer Simpson pronounces Doughnuts - that mesmerized tone he uses.
