• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What Brand Engine oil do you use

Overpriced BRP oil? The kit comes all in one box with 5 quarts of oil, filter, and orings/washers for $55. Thats like $7 a quart. The extra oil also comes in handy for top offs and to just have some around....just sayin'.

Cost me $100 at my dealer for the kit

For your F-3, I would use Rotella T-6, 5w-40 it's JASO II rated .... so it's good for a WET clutch like we have ..... jmho ... and Walmart sells it at a good price. and google it and see what re-bates are now available ..... Mike

:oldpost: Asked and answered multiple times. My advice after 60+ years of operating motor vehicles with out a single oil related failure is buy whatever you like as long as it meets or exceeds the recommended oil by your owner's manual. Manuals for almost all motors can be found online somewhere.Ride more worry less.

I use Valvoline 4T Stroke Full Synthetic Motorcycle Oil 10W-40.

It is formulated for specific needs motorcycles, including High Temp, High RPMS, + Wet Clutch Systems( which our spyders have). I have been using this oil since 2014.

I clicked on the link and it says $109. That's too expensive. I can do that in half with baja ron and Mobil 1

I put T-6 in mine about 5K ago!

:oldpost: While it's a great idea to keep all the info on a given topic in the one thread wherever possible so that it's easy to find et al, it still always pays to check the date a thread started and check the dates on the latest posts in any thread before you post a reply - the info given &/or linked in the earlier posts quoted in both the replies that I've shown above may still be valid, but since those earlier posts/links were put up waaayyy back in September 2018, there's a pretty good chance that things might have changed juuust a little in the years that've passed since. ;)

Just Sayin'....

Where do you get it for $55? We just got a kit and it was over $100

:oldpost: As I said back in post #40 put up back in November last year, you should always check the date a thread started as well as looking at the latest few posts in it too - and it's a pretty good idea to read right thru the thread before replying as well, Kelley! ;)

This is especially the case in this thread that's now nearly 8 years old, cos I reckon the post from DrewNJ that first referred to the $55 kit (see above) was put up waaay back in March 2014 and there's been a few posters who have provided more recent price info & updates since, & some have even suggested where to get that oil at a better price too!

Besides, the thread topic is really "What Brand Engine Oil do you use?", & not really 'How much does it cost you for oil?' or even 'Where do you get your oil?' - Just Sayin'

:bdh::bdh: Take it away Peter! Every now and then you should take it away, never to be seen again, make believe it's one of those post that have stirred up the hornet's nest and upset the masses, take it away! There is really no useful information!:dontknow:

:agree: This and other subjects like it will never end in our lifetime. Kill it if you can Peter.

:chat: I welcome a little 'History on Oil.'
The specs on oil have changed. The 'types' of oils we are using have changed. Also, the cost of oil will always be going up. BRP Oil has changed along with the times.

So I am using Mobile 1 full synthetic, because BRP doesn't offer it for Spyders. BRP’S Oil is a mixed blend.

RE: Super Tech St Syn V-twin 20w-50 Motorcycle Oil
Super Tech Full Synthetic SAE 20W-50 provides the following benefits:
Resists thermal breakdown in high horsepower and high torque engines
Protects against rust and pitting in gearbox and primary chain case especially during long periods of storage
High shear stability reduces viscosity breakdown to maximize transmission protection
Proper friction characteristics keep wet clutch operating at peak performance for smooth consistent shifts
Meets the specifications of JASO MA2, API SL, and ISO-L-EMA2

AND... $5.78/qt

Have you had it analyzed?

BRP's 0/40 is a full synthetic. Though there are many 'Synthetic' oils using a variety of base stocks and additives. Producing a wide variance in manufacturing costs and performance. Just as gasoline varies widely in quality, additives, and octane. So too has the heading of 'Synthetic' become a very large umbrella.
