• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

things we dont do anymore

They call that steak Tartar in the finer restaraunts....:roflblack:

I remember going to a country restaurant in beef country many years ago and thinking "they should do a great Tartare here"......I had a bit of a laugh when I asked if it could be done, and the waitress said she would have to ask the chef as she had never heard of it. She came back with "the chef said he can do a Tartare.....how would you like it cooked?":rolleyes:

Having a sugar bowl on the breakfast table so I could add more sugar to my cereal. Then, finding a little sugar sludge in the bottom of the bowl when the cereal was gone. Amazingly, I'm not overweight nor do I have diabetes.

I remember most of our food came from the barnyard or garden. I can still see my mom butchering chickens in the side yard.

Was able to buy a piece of bread with butter sprea on it, and a Old colony grape soda for about 7 cents!
Today, you cant even pay the sugary drinks taxes with 7 cents!

going to the Sugar Bowl in the morning and getting home in time to watch part of the Orange Bowl Cotton Bowl and cap it off with the Rose Bowl at Night all on New Years Day. No dragging Bowl Season out for 6 weeks. And only 2 channels to choose from.

Having a party line telephone. There were three families on ours. If it was two short rings it was for us. If you picked it up and heard someone talking you would hang up and wait till they got finished. Also remember, in high school, leaving the house in my Mom's brand new 1976 Monte Carlo and would pull over once I got down the road, pop the hood and turn over the air breather lid. Made that 305 sound bad a$$! or so I thought! lol

Other things I'm glad to be rid of

Wearing a Sony Walkman
Using 5.25in or 3.5in floppy discs
Green text monitors
Boom boxes
Flared pants and polyester shirts
rocking the "porn stasche"
parachute pants
mix tapes
AM radio

I remember

I remember dad yelling at us (3 boys), "warm up the car boys time to go to...."
we wpold clamor down the stairs playing "roller derby" elbows digging into our ribs to be the first to reach the 60 chevy station wagon.
Turn the defroster and give it a couple of revs.

Does anyone here still type letters on a manual (non electric) typewriter?
Or make duplicates using carbon paper?

Going 'trick or treating ' on my horse, headless horseman, and the neighbors yelling at me to get the damn horse off their lawns.
