They were putting a public pool in!

So at night we rode our bicycles down to the board area (10 ft deep oval) start at the top & go round & round till hit bottom.
Bummer wen pool was finished & filled wi water.
Till we discovered the joy of swimming all day.

Playing army & filled a hole with Dads black powder.
Covered with dirt & had a real land mine!
Gary lit fuse----nothing happened-- so he dug it up and ---whoom, no more eyebrows & not much hair left.
We didn't see Gary much for a while. Etc etc on & on whoo hoo
Had fun

Wrecked my 305 Honda scrambler- Trashed it.

13 years old but rode all time back then.

Took it apart, traded my friends dad some stuff for a locked up 305 dream.
Combined em & painted it from a lot of spray cans.
Two weeks later rolled it out & started riding it.
Mom never knew I had a wreck.
Just told her I was customizing.
Z bars, king queen seat black wrinkle paint. **** work but man I was happy & rode that thing to its death.

The things I remember besides the neighborhood hide & seek games were playing war or cowboys & indians with our toy guns in the neighborhood. One persons house would be the indians and the others would be cowboys and we'd "shot" each other all day. I think once when I was a teen ager that we actually used BB guns in the local woods. If that happened now the SWAT team would be there and the parents would be arrested for insighting panic. We also watched A Christmas Story" the other day. Red Rider BB gun was the main focus of that movie. Hard to believe things were that way. This is a great thread, thank you for starting it. Chris

An empty can (usually) coffie - on the stove top that you kept the used bacon greese in - for later cooking.
