• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA - DMV!!!

They wanted me to jump through hoops. FINE!!! I'll do what I HAVE to do.....and I did. Arrived at the DMV first AM....my typical smiley self - just an easy goin guy. However, they told me they needed to see with their on eyeballs and when he asked me to lay on the ground and read the numbers to him.........I said those won't be YOUR eyeballs......can I hold your pen and pad for you?

Suddenly there was no need to see the frame stamp ------- and all he had to do was crouch down to read the engine number.

Blk Max & its trailer now have tags.

Payback's fun; ain't it??

"Move to Germany, Switzerland, France etc." What's with the move to stuff? I've shed blood for this country.......and if I want to complain a little - I'm entitled to. Lighten up SANFRANCISCO!!
I am right there with you on this one. I sacrificed my youthful health for what? All these nanny state, controlling, and privacy invading rules? NO.

OK, now you're leaving some precious info out. Where did you buy the bike and why does it have a sticker ID and not the stamped metal tag like on all the others? I have never encountered a vehicle with this form of ID.

The spyder has for unknown purposes the vin and Date of build on a paper sticker under the seat.

If someone stole your Spyder and took it to a state that will aceept a 'STICK ON' VIN number, you would be griping about lax controls and no protection. Using a fake VIN sticker is called 'ghosting' it has been common for years with car theives.

And if somebody bought a non-emission Spyder and immediately took it to California (before 7,500 miles) you would be griping about air pollution. Why pay more for a CA legal Spyder when you can to to BF Egypt and get a polluter. BTW CA emissions stickers are not all the same.

Both those laws were passed for a good reason.

Relax, we were venting.

ask her to show you her high school diploma....
she'll probably say it's locked up with Jerry Brown mental examination results... :gaah: :roflblack:

:hun: For the most part this was all in fun. We know DMV has a job to do. Doesn't mean we have to like it.

the California "law" was never "passed". It is an enforced regulation created only by the California Air Resources Board. The CARB is responsible for so much economic decline in California that it isn't even reported in the media anymore. It truly is a real and untenable problem here.

Oh, That's Just Bad

I suggest, in general, moving. Cause what in the hades is that crap. CA is getting pretty far out there with rules and laws and stuff. Makes me wonder when I will decide to leave the USA for somewhere more reasonable and less regulated.

I think if you move to california, you have left the country....:roflblack:

Hey come on, I was born in California...don't diss my peeps

Besides, we hardly use our hot tubs anymore...

Ask and I mean ask for a supervisor. Totally retarded.

Here's your supervisor:

California DMV agents gain power from your sorrow as they drink the sweet juice of your tears. Yep, reason #31 why I left California.

3. And lastly - I bought the Spyder in Louisiana. And, just in case you are wondering it passes all California Emission standards. As, so stated on a STICKER under the saddle.

I was wondering why the numbers had to be checked and you answered the question.

When I bought my new 2011 HD From a dealer in Nevada, the CA DMV person had to check the numbers and stickers.

I had the same thing... DMV made me go to the CHP office where an officer said show me the numbers
he got out his flashlight and I pointed them out he then got on his back on the ground and looked at the frame number
stamped in it and then the other on the engine... then back to the DMV on a different day because all the above
took so much time the DMV was closing after all that I got the plates....
Big fun:dontknow:

Help!!!

The gal at DMV says I have to expose the engine serial number as well as the one that is stamped on the frame. Per her she has to lay her eyes on them. Period, end of statement. No argument. I can either do it for her or take the Spyder to the CHP and per her they will take it apart to find them. A REAL SWEETIE SHE IS!!!!!!!

So, how much tuper ware (which pieces) do I need to remove to expose what is called out on page 160 in the owners manual, because she WAS NOT satisfied with the information on the stick on label attached to the swing arm.

Grrrr!!!

Thanks
Jer

I'm sure all those laws in California were passed for a "good reason".

Um I said before they were never voted on by the people or the legislature. They are regulations adopted by the California Air Resources Board and enforced by the DMV. This is all about power, not about pollution. Los Angeles had only 3 smog alerts in 2010. We don't need any more regulations on this topic--we are doing just fine. But we are going to be subjected to more--they are already talking about outlawing burning wood in household fireplaces, and EVERY YEAR we have to defend our freedom to BBQ on charcoal in your own back yard.
