• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Worst Can-Am Service and parts departments

Let's have a poll to see who has the worse customer service in their local dealership. My vote goes to Ride Now Powersports in Ocala,Fl. I order and pay for a hitch and wiring harness and wait 4 weeks, finally I go over and they say it is on backorder and we don't know when they will be able to get it.No call to tell me it is on backorder when I told them that we had a trip planned. Went on ebay and had one in 4 days. Called the service dept. to discuss the first service and they tell me 600 miles ,I tell them that the manual says 3,000 for the first service. They say no it is 600. So I close my shop and ride 35 miles over to the dealer with my wife following in the truck. We drop off the Can-Am and tell them we will be back in a few hours,we get across town and we get a phone call from the dealership that the first service is not due until 3,000 miles and we did not need to bring the RT in. So there is that time wasted, plus gas for 2 vehicles. We reach 3,000 miles and so we call to get an appointment for the 3,000 mile service and they ask why we did not get the 600 mile service. So we go back to Ocala today for our scheduled appointment to get the 3,000 mile service and they say oops we are running behind and it will be at least 4 hours wait before they can get us in. So after closing my shop early again and riding over, they did not have the courtesy to call and say we are behind schedule and can we reschedule. So now we can't wait 4 hours to get the RT in and have to reschedule again for next week. We paid extra money for a complete service package and were told that when we come in we would be put to the front of the line for service. I would not buy anything from this dealership. While we were there another gentleman with a new Indian was sitting there and heard our conversation and said he had an appointment for 10 am and it was after noon and they had just brought his bike in.

In the past, worst dealer threads have not seemed to be a good idea.

You surely have a complaint here, and your story would make good opening dialog on any of the evening talk shows.

Posting about individual situations are good, but trying to come up with a list of "poison" dealers is not a good idea--IMO. Sometimes, a bad mistake, or a bad way of handling a situation can result in unearned reputation for some dealers.

I am one of the first to jab on a dealer with bad service. The occasional references take their toll on the bad ones. I don't think we need a posted list.

 :agree:
It's pretty easy to "poson the well"; when the dealership isn't here to tell their side of the story...

Very true. And what is a nightmare dealer for one person is a dream dealer for another. So it would be hard to get a consensus. Consumer experiences are as unique as consumers.

But wow, the OP did have a horrid experience. No doubt. If it were me, I'd list everything in bullet points and have a calm sit down with the owner or manager and ask them, "if the shoe were on the other foot, would this level of service be acceptable to you?" And shame them if possible into getting better. Or maybe at least get a discount on some gear... ;)

But that's what Yelp is for, I just posted about Berts Mega Mall, and the great service I received on my visit with them this week for brakes.

I have a doozie I was going to post, but out of respect for the dealer whom I dealt with and they with me, I will not post the details.

Just a lesson re-learned from me that if you want it done right, 9 times out of 10 you'll need to just do it your self.

Good service departments are hard to find, and if you have one you're one of the few lucky ones.

I posted about my former dealer when I first signed on to SL. I wouldn't name them. Thing is, everybody that had a Spyder or Victory and went there for service had problems. I agree that it's not a good idea to mention the name. There are a lot of dealers who read SL. I was talking to Rene at BRP the other day. We talked about my former dealer and the one I'm using now.

On another note, BRP hitches are on backorder. I don't know why. The dealer should have told you that. I have also found that a lot of dealers are still under the impression that the 2014 has a 600 mile service. They just don't seem to be reading the info sent out by BRP.

My former dealer, where I bought my Spyder, left brake parts off when they did the recall work for the heat, last September . . . have never been back . . . will never go back . . . because you have to ask, what other parts did they leave off, or will leave off, in the future? :banghead:

I know people that live close to your dealer and they ride 100 miles to Central Florida Powersports for their service now.. Unfortunately I could get several to back up your experience...

Pitbull Powersports is a BAD dealer......well, todays bad means good right? :yikes: Or is it bad azz....:dontknow:

RE: the 600 mile service (previous) and the 3000 mile service on the new 2014 RT's. It amazes me that dealers selling the product do not even have a clue about the new service intervals. Really gives a lot of confidence about their servicing in general.

Well, this kind of stuff is the very reason I fired my original dealer only 20 minutes from me, and now ride 75 miles to the dealer that's one of the best I've ever seen.

(It's the same dealer BikerDoc uses...)

I drive 5 hours to go to Central Florida Power Sports. Good dealers are well worth the long drive.
