What's this shaft for on Left Side of my RTL under/behind front sprocket?

I was checking the forward sprocket for the dreaded red dust (none there) and noticed this stud directly below and slightly aft of the front sprocket. It has two sets of serrated splines and doesn't look like it had anything attached. Anyone have an idea what it is and am I missing any parts? 2014 RTL. Thanks.

It looks like the shifter shaft. Can you still change gears.

It is the shifting shaft. You have a SE6, so the shaft is not used.

The transmissions are the same on the SE5/6 and SM5/6. Why spend the extra money to design a different one?

It's a fail-safe. If your electric shift goes belly-up you can always shift manually! :roflblack:

It's too bad they don't give you an extension with lever in case you should ever have a paddle shifter or actuator problem... My wing had a kick starter in the tool kit, and it did come in handy on more than one occasion... :thumbup:

Just how would you use this shaft in a emergency with foot pad in place? Makes no sense? Never read a single post till today on this subject?

Emergency Use - Vise grip pliers. Gets you off the street!

I had that part go bad on my 14 SM, it was almost impossible to get the bike into neutral

2020 Spyder RT

Can anyone tell me what this shaft is that's coming out from under the front sprocket area? It has splines on it as if something should be connected.

Gearbox shift lever shaft. Absolutely normal not seeing a shift lever on the splines.

The transmission that all Spyders have is the same ..... That shaft you showed is used if the transmission is set-up for MANUAL shifting .... the Manual trans will have added an ELECTRICAL shifting mechanism - so the Manual lever is not needed ..... Mike :thumbup:
