• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

General Altimax Rt45 215/60R15 is on. Nice to have a virtually correct speedometer.

Mine arrived this week and I was hoping the speedo was a little more accurate. The past 33 years the speedos on all my vehicles have been spot on and it was a disappointment when the Spyders have not been accurate.

Spent the morning installing a handlebar riser, driver backrest, and brake light flashers. Bajaron sway bar arriving tomorrow. After that install, I will be pretty much done with "must do" add-ons.

Pretty much every vehicle I have ever owned lists two change intervals, usually in the form of:

(my emphasis)

My last two vehicles have been Honda's, which incorporates a "Maintenance Minder" system, that is supposed to monitor the vehicle use, and display a 2 character maintenance code telling you what needs to be done.
Even with the newer Maintenance Minder system, all of the Owners Manuals include the "xxx miles or 12 months" statement in the section explaining what the Maintenance Minder codes mean.

I am also of the opinion that if you change the oil, you also change the oil filter, even when the manufacturer says you can change the oil filter every other oil change.

At the bottom of Page 119 of my Spyder's Operators Guide is the start of the Maintenance Schedule section. And it says:

So even CAN-AM recommends a mileage vs months, whichever comes first, schedule

I agree wholeheartedly.....I did read my manual, BUT, I only did 3,000 miles last year, we have mild winters and I park in the garage wvery night, so.......

I also don’t think this is the thread to start discussing the pro’s and con’s ofwhen orhow often. My post was more to let bikerbillionaire know that he was not alone in his thnking.

I cut all the pieces for my golf bag holder and spray painted them. I don't like the spray paint I bought but it'll do. I'll post pics when it's complete, hopefully tomorrow.

Well, it down poured today so I wasn't able to finish the golf bag holder. Hoping to finish soon but will post pics when I'm done. I did however add a RAM lock for my Carpuride. It's pretty neat. It's a 2-piece device where you use the knob to tighten the mount, but the knob is not attached and is needed to remove the mount. If you try and turn the knob that remains on the mount, it just spins. Here's a link to it.

Oh my, what did I do, what did I do? Changed the oil and filter yesterday, did a shake down run with the Mrs for a quick lunch. So I checked the parked spot under the Spyder, yes the small evidence of an oil leak. Back home, so a careful observation under the right drain plug of the machine and there it was, the dreaded slow drip. OK why? Close exam with the light, I could not find the 'crush washer'? Surely I did not forget such an important thing, but wait, I did, dang! Short story, drain and redo. As many oil motorcycle oil changes that I have done and to forget the crush washer. Call me 'embarrassed'.

Finished the golf carrier today. I'll bungy the bag to the upright, then put a strap around the whole thing and secure to the passenger handrails.

EDIT: If you're interested, the idea came from a double bag carrier for an actual golf cart. It consists of a Slingmods rack, 3/4" conduit, conduit elbows, a coupler to join the elbows (but had to cut off some because they were too wide joined together), and 4 tees (which are a little big but I could not find tees that were exact fit, so I took up the slack with electrical tape). Drilled holes in tees and used sheet metal screws to hold together and drilled into rack to mount upright pieces. The foam is just pipe insulation on the cross pieces to protect the golf bag.

My buddy and I traveled 7 hours to Baja Ron's (partially in the rain) and had some work done on our bikes. He had a sway bar put on and I got new tires, RLS cat delete, oil change, and new battery. Those folks over at Baja Ron's know what they are doing and are great people too.

Took off rear wheel, had a Kenda Kanine mounted/balanced, put back on and spent an hour adjusting belt tracking and tension.

Then spent several more hours installing the ISCI hand brake conversion. Was being meticulous because brakes and all that.

Took several pain relievers and will put it back together tomorrow. :)

Gotta ask .. After doing all the tire work, why did you stick with a Kenda ?

Price, availability of a place to get one mounted (only chain stores around here that wouldn't mount a car tire), and me getting about 10,000 miles on the oem one. It was the easier route.

I took the Spyder for a ride and did some errands.

Also, someone asked me questions about my Spyder.

The questions were, "How do you steer it?" (Meaning how to do you turn corners with it, like turning left or right corners.)

I gave the person a lot of info. That person said that I could be a sales rep for the Spyder, and also that I am very knowledgeable.

PDX, not a bad idea, I was thinking maybe two is better than one. if ya need some separation of stuff. Sure easy to take out if ya don't need it. Versatile. Thanks.
