• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Replaced the seat strut.
While the rear seat was off I rerouted some wires to get them out of pinch zones. Looks neater too.

I washed my :spyder2:.

Now it will be able to go faster! :joke:

Deanna

I dunno, Deanna! During WW2, the Allied Brass decided to stop painting Bombers, cos it'd save money, make the lighter, and theoretically, let them go faster... Only actual flight tests didn't reflect that!! Check this out:

So maybe you should leave your Spyder unwashed, to let the road grime collect in all the nooks & crannies & help smooooth the surface - I know that MY RT, that rarely gets washed &/or polished, goes significantly faster thatn pretty much every other Spyder I've ridden/it's met, regardless of model/state of tune, both on the road and on the track!! :ohyea:

That's gotta be due to its unwashed state, of course... and clearly has nothing at all to do with the ECU Upgrade that it's got tucked away under the tupperware! :coffee: :roflblack:

This morning I took my Spyder on a ride over to Andersonville National Historic Site, about 130 miles round trip. A bit warmish out but I got home before it reached the mid 90's.

We went to Lake Placid, New York, and we went up the White Face mountain. It is about 200 miles, round trip.

Installed the USA flag LED. Also installed the saddle bags lights that I've had since December. Ran wires to the same jumper that was used for the flag.

Went for a relaxing ride up TN hwy 421 "the Snake" where on the way home I actually seen a big lack snake on tbe road. How fitting. I stopped long enough to get a cold drink and grilled cheeseburger while at the country store. There was an abundance of Spyders and Rykers out today. More than I've ever seen. There becoming very popular out here.

The wife and I took a ride to see the Petroglyphs in SE Ohio, then down into Kentucky and followed the Ohio River for a while. Crossed back over the river then headed home. Temps were mid 90s for the better part of the afternoon, but cooled off nicely for the ride home. We were gone for about 10 hours, and rode 360 miles. Took a look at the rear tire when we got back and found that we're down the the wear bars already, with just 4,600 miles on the OEM Kenda.

Not all that uncommon, but do check that you're actually looking at the 'Tread Wear Bars' & not the 'tread stabilisation' & 'Ice/slush Breaker' blocks! :lecturef_smilie:

These different bar types are easily confused, but the Ice Breaker blocks have ribbing on the top (until it's worn off :p ) and IIRC, are generally in the tread grooves forming a straightish line across the entire tread face; while the 'Tread Wear Bars' are in the grooves forming an angled line across the tread face, and there's a small triangle embossed on the side of the tread with its pointy top aimed at the bars!! There's nothing pointing at the Ice Breakers, cos they're just there to make sure that ice & water do get eventually forced out thru the grooves & sipes in the tread. ;)

However, if you've only worn down to them, rather than to the Tread Wear Bars, you've probably got maybe 2,000 to 3,000 more miles of wear to go to the legal minimum - unless those tires are already giving you the heeby jeebies &/or scaring the crap out of you! If they are, you won't be first, nor I expect the last to change them out early just so you can fit some 'real' tires - few ever regret doing so!

I had pics of the different bar types here years ago, and others showed them too; but I haven't seen them in a while, so it might take a bit of time to find them. I'll do a bit of searching later & see what I can come up with; but you might want to do your own searching too, just to make sure of what you're looking at! :2thumbs:

Cheers
