• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

THIS JUST PUBLISHED BY NHTSA

So much for good ideas

should compile a list of tried and true heat reduction methods for the '13 's. post it on the diy board so it won't get buried. i think many would benefit.
AND trying to help. go cry in your geritol.:roflblack::doorag:

Waiting

Still curious as to what the outcome will be, Have done some things to make the 13 ST tolerable.
The gas fumes on hot shutdown of both spyders are my main concern and curiosity, although the 13 ST is still markedly hotter under the covers then our 10RT. Is it hot enough to damage things over time? Only time will tell.

One final thought, the ST is such a hoot to drive, it has that added Pep in its step, even with its issues, glad we bought it.

it appears BRP maybe dragging their feet .. hoping that the affected spyders will be retired before any settlement can be agreed to..

Hmm, let's hope not. That seems a bit hyperbolic. :yikes:

Here's another way of looking at it according to what the NHTSA's web site shows... It's only been three months since BRP received that letter from the NHTSA with the long list if inquiries. As is usually the case, the government requested a response date that would have been nearly impossible to meet, given the nature of the inquiries. According to the documentation currently on NHTSA's web site, BRP has already responded to 11 of the inquiries, partially responded to 2 others, and requested the customary request for an extension to allow them time to properly work on the rest. Some of the responses were sent to NHTSA in digital format with a request for confidentiality for competitive reasons. I would doubt that the NHTSA web site is updated in "real time", so it's hard to say if other non-confidential responses have been received and not yet documented on the site. Also, it is reasonable to assume that ALL of BRP's responses will be submitted to the office of the NHTSA Chief Counsel via their own legal offices, so that too, would add to the length of time it takes NHTSA to publicly post the information.

Seems to me that things are progressing within a time parameter that is to be expected on such matters. At this point, so early in the game, it is very difficult to tell how long the investigation will take. However, my guess would be several more months, rather than several years.

It is vital to remember, that when dealing with the government, Ready, Shoot, Aim - - is all too easy to accomplish, and you don't get a second chance. BRP needs time to get it right, and provide a real credible long term solution.

BRP got an extension for filing documents until 2/20/14  NHTSA has already done extensive testing and the word I got from the investigator is they have had some "interesting" results whatever that may mean:dontknow:

Thanks, Dave. That comment from NHTSA is both interesting and encouraging. I agree with the above post. The outcome of all of this should be really interesting.

Well, BRPs deadline to respond is this Friday. Any bets they will delay again?

I really think this is their intended course of action. Delay, Delay Delay until there are very few left to bother fixing. Meanwhile the number of owners left holding a near worthless (market value) bike because of BRP incompetence and apathy continues to grow.

Anyway, will be interesting to see what they send or don't to the NHTSA. I've pretty much lost faith that this will lead anywhere.

i am waiting on this my has been in for the same problem 2 times already
next time i we seek the lemon law if nothing happens with this

Wow

This is BRP's initial partial response to Investigation PE14025 by NHTSA. If you have not read the letter from NHTSA to BRP, you will need it for reference to BRP' response. Here is the link for that:

The wheel grinds on.

Both opened well, on my IPad.
do you know if BRP submitted report on required date (dec. 2014)???
thanks for sharing

Sales Are Still Going Strong

Just an observation. The way BRP is responding, or not responding depending on your perspective, to the 2013 NHTSA inquiry has not slowed the sale of Spyders. Looks like there will be no SIGNIFIGANT impact to BRP over this, just like Chevy keeps rolling along.
