Wise words. When in doubt, cut it out.I still can see absolutely no downside to the canister-ectomy.

So if I had to guess what caused the problem I would say the evap canister. I really do not think it was heat related or heat soak related. It was quite cool and I had not gotten any heat codes since before I left Las Vegas. I will report this to NHTSA and to BRP and I will let you all know what they say.
I am thinking about changing my user name from SpyderAnn01 to CrispySpyder or maybe FlamingSpyder. What do you think?
Ann, Really glad you are OK!
I think ya should go with: Fireball Annie.....:yikes: If ya get another Yellow bike..... Fireball Annie on the Shortbus ...really sings...
If she wants flames after this episode; her sense of humor would be.... EPIC!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
I'll tell you all this:
I have not even owned my 2012 Viper Red RTS-SE5 a year yet.....I have had boiling gas in the gas tank and reading these posts of the Demo Fire and hearing a lot of "HEAT" issues and having to have exhaust pipes wrapped and fuel lines wrapped to not rub on motor housing etc., is really scary and is causing my "Confidence" levels to dive!
This should NOT be happening to these Spyders--period. I would have thought BRP would have truly designed and tested these bikes good enough that none of us should have to lay awake at night worrying about their purchases.
If I wasn't so short and my wife tall, I'd switch to a two-wheeler or maybe an even more expensive 3-wheeled trike kit bike like a Gold Wing or something. I went with the Spyder for price and feel etc., was something my wife and I could do together but I do fear of bursting into flames like Ann and no one should have that fear lurking every time they are out on their bikes riding.
BRP had best be speaking up to all owners and doing something to fix this and to re-affirm all customers about this - or like someone else posted the Spyder will die away like the Ford Pinto--etc.
