my suggestion, and agin this is my suggestion rather than everyone trying to remove the charcoal canister.....which i can't tell you to do,
Was this included as part of the second update if a Spyder owner took it back to the dealership?..my suggestion is to extend the vent line hose off of it and make it go out the bottom or further back on your bike

That we can find......no:shocked:.....All the budds updates say nothing about this that we can findnojoke Also removing the driver side splash panel on the bottom side of the motor can help move some stail air out also allows the motor to run a shade cooler....but more than likely you wont see bars diffrent on your gauges.....keep in mind we are still working with brp on this at the present time!:chat: lots to go over.....this is happing to only a very few bikes so its harder to figur out but it does need to be! venting and air flow make all the diffrence here that we can tell so far.....wish we had a major breakthrew but, i think right now most of you already have it somewhat figured out.........keeping you all updated!:thumbup:Was this included as part of the second update if a Spyder owner took it back to the dealership?
Yes it was. So a large number of Spyders have probably been altered and thus the marked reduction in fires.
Do I remember right that this particular Spyder had not had that done?:dontknow:
To clear some of this up as far as we can find going back on this model it does not have any updates for the canister vent line......went back with my service man and pulled it all up......There are several updates for this bike, we did all the updates the computer showed to do.....but the vent line is not in buds to be done.......I do think its agood idea at this point but is only my opionon and not a factory update that we can find so far.....if anything changes we will make note, but at this point there is nothing in the computer saying to do this:dontknow:
Pretty sure I remember in one of the updates that changed the cycling of the vent solenoid that BRP added a longer hose to the cannister that went forward and exited thru the splash plate behind the radiator on the right.
But I guess it could have just been one of our members that did that for his own reasons.
My wife keeps saying I have something called "Old Timers Disease" and I misremember stuff all the time. :shemademe_smilie:

Thanks for finding that, I looking for that and was only finding a few threads about it. It was starting to make me look out in left field till you found it. I do notice it said the whole second update was only required if you had performance problems, However it seems like I read something different somewhere. Here's the update INCLUDING a new vent hose:
