I am wanting to put risers on my RS over the winter and was wondering if anyone can recommend a brand that is easy to install and does not require changing out my keys to accommodate a new ignition system? Also I am 5'5" and what length would you recommend so I sit comfortably and can finally lean back!?

Lots of risers on the market. ESI, Heli bar. I didn't think any of them involed needing a new ignition.

I have the Helibar riser and like that I did not need to cut the bars to have it installed. Kewlmetal has their own console and handlebar combos too. So, lots of options for pull back and raising the handlebars.

I have looked at the Kewl Metal risers and like them alot.. And thank you for the input. As I am going to do this myself I want something easy and basically indestructible. Lol. I like to do my own mods so I know MY bike

If you are into looks, IMO there is none better than the Heli Bar Risers. :thumbup:

When I had my GS, I installed the ESI 3.5" risers myself and it was fairly easy. The hardest part was getting enough cable play. I did have to cut the bars down, so if you're not wanting to do this, then you'll probably want to go with the Helibar. I'm 5'3" and felt like I needed more pullback with the ESI's (I also had a 1" BRP riser block installed when I purchased the GS) and thought that I would have been better off with the Kewmetal (more adjustment options).
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have with installation.

Thanks so much! I am leaning toward the Kewl Metal risers as of right now because they don't seem to require changing out cables or cutting bars. Any and all help on installing them will be appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure, but the risers that you cut the bars I think are easier to install.

But like a pretty female once told me................. it aint easy to look this good.

Just put the Kewl-metal ones on the better-halfs GS. Went with the 7 inch bars, they were listed as the tallest with out needing to extend the cables. I did not have to extend any cables but I did reroute a couple of them for more play at full lock. Not a hard mod, but not easy either, just takes some time to do it right. Here is a pic of the bars, not the ones I installed, but an idea, Karen is 5' 4" and they work good for her.

Thank you so much for the pics!! I think I will absolutely have to go with the 7 inch ones. Like the look and I will be sure and take my time.. I have a few months anyway so, no hurry.

RE: Risers for RS. I am 5' 5'' just like you mentioned.

I originally put the BRP 1 1/2 on --but found them not satisfactory.

My dealer made some 3" risers and them some 4" risers. I had the 3" on my 2008 GS and had 4" put on the 2009 RS.

In both cases, the higher risers made for a more comfortable ride for me--since I do not like the crouch position. Lots of suppliers out there. Go for at least 3".

Are you looking to install risers or new handlebars? The setup that warp10 has is handlebars, not risers. If you go with the risers, chances are you'll want (and probably even need) to cut off your existing bars - which isn't difficult to do at all. If you want handlebars, I would suggest doing some careful measurements first (I did this with my HD Sportster); otherwise you run the risk of not getting the right fit. It all depends on what look and feel you are trying to achieve.

If you look in My Spyder mods I just posted there with some risers I put on my wife's bike. They are the 4 1/2 inch ones. Got them from Custom Dymanics and was $129.00. Instead of cutting the bars off flush I left 2 inches so I can mount some 4 inch risers with some drag bars to mount extra accessories. This ideal can from FlamigoBabe hubby HotGlue.

I installed the Kewl metal 3 way adjustable risers on mine. I can sit upright and enjoy the ride. But the only downfall is the cutting of the original bars.

I have ESI risers and really like them. They look very OEM...I think some of the others look like tinker toys, but that is just my opinion.

Hey Kristina, keep in mind that depending on which riser you choose, you may need to add mirror extensions. With some risers, the only thing you'll see in the mirrors are your hands. This was the case when I had the ESI risers. I also had a touring windshield which I had to make cutouts for the mirrors. I'm willing to bet this is the case for all risers with the exception of Helibars, but others can chime in to confirm. Good luck with whichever you choose. :thumbup:
