• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

my oil can mod - finally done

Almost exactly what Xpeschon and myself did, even the same air drier. You might have a problem with the oil you collect leaking out the bottom. I took mine apart and soldered the bottom brass pieces together to seal it and I think xpeschon used a bolt and rubber washer.

Yeh - I sealed the bottom up so it wont leak - I did have the filter on the output at first (all mounted) but then thought about people asking if anyone ran it back to the box - so I thought I would try that. I used clear hose so I can see if any oil is getting past the dryer. We shall see. If it does, I will put the filter back on

the bottom part of the clear loop should collect oil if its getting past the dryer.

I cant wait to have a dry airbox!!:ohyea:

Yeap that looks good really good.. And you are correct Lee it is just like ours and I did do the bolt and washer thing, so far so good, Both methods will work but you need to do something cause it will drip out of the bottom for sure..
Joe

PS: Yah if it gets past the filter let us know, I'd be interested.

I'd keep a close eye on it.......any oil that gets past the catch can will lay in the low portion of the vent hose and will eventually create an hydraulic trap........:yikes:

:dontknow:not so sure about that since its not a sealed at either end and its not high pressure.:dontknow:

results of the catch can

OK results are in. After literally 5 miles I can say do not run the hose from the output to the airbox. UNLESS you are in a constantly warm climate. After 5 miles of riding in 50 degrees temps this morning, there was considerable condensation building up in the out put hose and and the catch can. Just way too much line that is running warm air through a cooler environment. I could see drops of water trying to get up the hose and into the airbox. I took the hose off and put on the filter.

Also I know for sure I have a touch more power when tach is in the 3-4 grand range. There is a certain corner I used to have to take in first gear or it wouldnt pull itself out very well. Now I take that same turn in second approaching at the same speed as before and I definately can pull out of the corner faster. Seems to have more power when below 4k rpm than it used to.

Could that be because I'm not throwing oil into the throttle bodies?

:2thumbs:looks great. where did you get the filter.

I got the filter at AutoZone 9.99

Yes the green hose is plugged - I jammed a fuse I had left over from my car stereo in the hose. It was for a 4 gauge power line so it fit nice and tight

Looks real good:2thumbs:

I have a question or 2, if you plugged the green hose how can the crankcase vent? Wouldn't it build preasure? :dontknow: Just curious.

the green hose is to the airbox not the crankcase vent. thats how i sealed off the airbox.

Ok, I do understand that, but with Lamonsters( http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11842) he used an air filter on that side which I assumed was so it could vent. Just a bit cunfused, same mod 2 differant setups.

In his first post of this thread, brutus450 started off with the oil catch can hosed from the crankcase to the catch can to the airbox. In post #14 he talks of removing the hose that went from the catch can to the airbox, using a short section of hose with a fuse jammed in the end to block off the airbox inlet and putting a filter on the catch can exhaust port to make his setup work identical to Lamonster's post that you referrenced.
