Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions - - - PART II

So my buddy and I went to work on tearing into Teds Red Sled, removing the mirrors, front fascia, left & right side upper and middle tupperware panels and finally the headlights themselves. Just a little side note, this is WAY OverKill & NOT necessary, but I also wanted to run additional wiring for the Teddy cam and the newly recieved rear-view camera for the camper. (sometimes, I just can't leave well enough alone, right?:banghead:)

Well, http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?24907-Phil-s-Mods/page3&highlight=Light+install Phils install directions are a lifesaver and I'd hate to think of how this would have went, if we didn't have Phils assistance. Let me say one thing right here, Steve from KBCarStuff http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Xtreme-HID-Kits-s/9954.htm is EXTREMELY helpfull and a great resource. I sent him a PM here on SpyderLovers http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/member.php?7096-XenonDepot and I'm NOT JOKING, by the time I got done sending him a PM, with my contact info, he called me within 2 minutes, I couldn't believe it was him, but it was. And this not only happened once, but twice, and both times, within 2 minutes he was in contact with me. WOW, what great service!!!

I'll do a full review of the Xenon Depot HID Kit for the RTs for everyone interested once Teddy and I return from our trip to SITA (Leaving Tuesday after work) that way we'll have over a week of use and should be able to spot any problems or issues to give a more thorough and complete review. I remember last years trip to SITA, I dearly wished we had HID lights, cause we got to the campground around midnight, and there wasn't a light one inside the campgrounds, and with the stock headlights, it was a lost cause, with us driving down dead end off roads, cause we just couldn't see far enough ahead, even with the brights on. Now, I have NO fear of that, as these things shine like the sun

:coffee:Its late, so I'll stop this post here and continue it when we return from SITA and have a thorough review for you all:2thumbs:

A day in the lyfe of being Teddy's Chauffeur

IMG_20120804_221755.jpg
While getting ready for our trip to SITA, we were ryding around town today with our camper in tow making sure everything was good to go. While going down the side streets along the riverfront, I notice a car behind us jocky'n for lane positions to get up closer to us. This happens quite often and I usually just ignore whats going on, and pay attention to our ryde. We get across the bridge from Newport and enter Covington, the city we live in, and make our way down to the riverfront to take a few pics of Teds Red Sled and his Camper with the Cincinnati Reds Great American Ball Park in the background. This was the night where Cincy's own Marty Brennaman http://content.usatoday.com/communi...eds-broadcaster-marty-brennaman-head-shaved/1 who had previously made a bet that if the Reds won 10 straight games, he'd shave his head  They won 10 and lost the 11th:banghead: so Marty lived up to his promise and also raised $50K for charity to shave his head live at the ballpark, and Charlie Sheen also matched his donation and gave his own check of $50K :yes: WAY TO GO MARTY & CHARLIE:yes::yes:

So we're driving along when all of a sudden, I see the same black BMW that I had noticed a while back trying to catch us, coming directly toward us flashing their lights with arms waving out the windows for us to slow down and stop, so we do. The beemer pulls along side, and the guy driving states,

"Dude, that thing is SO WICKED, I've been trying to catch up with you for at least 2 miles now."
"Yeah, well you got us."
"Oh MY GOD, I told you honey, the dog IS REAL." he said to his female passenger.
"Dude, you've gotta let us get a picture, PLease!!!???"
"Sure, why not, everyone does."

The guy backs his beemer up a little, so if there are any other cars, they can slide by us, and he and his passenger get out with Iphones in hand, and she starts snapping away and Teddy starts his pose'n & mug'n with hopes of get'n treats, as the guy continues talking with me.

"Man, you guys have it made, thats like a camper right? I mean, you can park wherever you want, hop back there and sleep wherever, right?"
"Yup, pretty much, thats how it works."
I then explain that its all Teddy's and I'm just the chauffeur along for the ryde:yes:and continue on how Teddy makes ppl happy pretty much everywhere we go, especially the Senior homes and day cares, and the guy seems blowed away. I then demonstrate some of Teddys tallents, as he gives me Hi5s and handshakes in trade for his treats, and I swear, I think the guy was a little in shock, not to mention, the lady was just all over Teddy. They ask if they can pet him, and we oblidge, and Teddy even gives them Hi5s and handshakes and the guy makes the comment,
"Man, you guys got it made, I want to be you guys. You know what, you just made our day, Thank YOU!"

Surprisingly, this isn't the first time we've heard this. The lady passenger notices a car trying to get by, but is afraid of scratching their beemer, so their just sitting there waiting, and the lady tells the guy that they need to go. He introduced himself, and his passenger, and then said thank you once again, and they jumped in their car with pics on phone, and waved and smiled as they drove off.

Then, later the same night, we're heading to my buddies house, and we've come to a redlight and are sitting there waiting for the light to change. I look over at the driver of the car next to us, and the lady driver is just all smiles. I could tell she wanted to talk, so I turned down the tunes so I could hear her.

"OH MY GOD!!! Thats the coolest thing I've ever seen! You know, I'm the Social Pages Editor for the Cincinnati Enquirer (our local newspaper) and if you send me your guys's pictures, I'll make sure their on the front page, people would love seeing this."

I kindly smile and tell her that his head is big enough and I don't know how I'd be able to handle him if it got even bigger, with a chuckle and then the light changed and we took our leave. All in a days work for Teddy & his chauffeur:doorag:

Todays Ramblings, YUP, its a Monday

 Too :2excited: Excited to sleep, got maybe 3 hours if I'm lucky, c'mon :yes:SITA:yes:SITA:yes:SITA:yes:

I've left the camper hooked up to Teds Red Sled and rode in to work today with it. I decided to go thru McDonalds drivethru (don't tell Teddy, its his fav) for some coffee & breakfast to help wake me up, since I haven't had all that much sleep, and wouldn't you know it, I get to the food window & the guy says, "Dude, where's Teddy?" I swear, this dog has them trained, and trained well:doorag:

So I get to work today, and we have fresh coon tracks all over the middle of my department. As I'm sitting at my break area, a fellow employee comes over to tell me, "Hey, just so you know, I was sitting in the breakroom and as I was looking down the aisle way, I saw a medium sized coon scamper from your department over to the next department." Joy, now we've got another loose coon running around in a 1.5 million sq.ft. manufacturing facility. Last time this happend, the coon got way up high in some machinery and had to be "forcibly" removed:yikes: Oh what fun:p

:yes:SITA :2excited:SITA  SITA:2excited: SITA:yes: SITA:2excited: SITA:yes:

Dave, you might want to bring the OEM headlight parts just in case you find a problem with the new HIDs and need to back out the mod. Would hate to see you in dire straights so far from home...

Have a great trip!

Good Idea Mark, I'll bring the one good one that we have left

Since the one blew, no since in bringing that one, and since we ended up NOT using the relay, it became plug-n-play, so should be a simple remedy if needed;) Thanks again for the suggestion

Yeah, try fly'n under the radar while ryding a Spyder with a cute lil dog on the back

So I'm here at work today, and its a typicle Monday, so most the machines in my department are down and it makes for a slow day of keep'n oneself busy while the Trades try in figure out how to get everything running again.

So I'm doing busy work, when along comes a guy (co-worker, but we have over 1500 employees, so I only know him by seeing him in other departments, never really talked with him before) who's holding up his cell-phone while walking towards me, and saying,

"Man, I saw a guy that looks just like you and has a Spyder just like yours and he even has a cute little mo-hawked dog that rides right on the back seat." His cell phone comes into view, and he's showing me a pic of me and Teddy on his Red Sled when we were down on the river-front one evening, GO FIGURE :doorag::roflblack::rolleyes:

:yes:Oh the Lyfe:yes: Many would think it grand, unless you were a wanted man :banghead::rolleyes::helpsmilie:

Map & Directions for Teddy's Trip to SITA

attachment.php

A few of you have asked in PMs about our route and timeframe for going to SITA & since we can't post pics in a PM, I thought I'd post it here to share with anyone that cares to know ;)

We plan on leaving after work on Tuesday (:yes:tomorrow:yes:) guessing we should be on the road around 4 or 5pm and then we'll ryde til I get to tired to go further, and then we'll find ourselves a quiet spot in a rest area and take a nap for a few hours, then fresh'n up and be on our way once again. Thinking we should make it to the NorthPole Campgrounds and the 100 acre woods sometimes on Wednesday, but with Teddy, thats a "guesstimate" at best:roflblack: Last year, I think it took a total of something like 24 hours to do this trip, as every stop we made, it was like we were the Circus :joke: coming to town :joke: and we'd be swamped with ppl wanting to see the Spyder, the Moto-Mate Camper and YES, of course TEDDY  So we'll see how this year goes for us :clap::yes: If you'd like to see it on your own computer, you can googlemaps it by clicking on get directions and typing in Point A as : 41016 Covington, KY and Point B as: NorthPole Campgrounds, NY 12997

 Hope to meet a whole bunch of ya's there :yes::yes:
