All,
I have not had an opportunity to ride our 2010 RT-S SE5 for several months. It has been in the garage connected to a battery tender. The gas tank was about half full with old gas. Took it for a 100 mile ride today and the first thing I did was fill the tank with premium gas. It took a little over 3 gallons to fill.
At about the 60 mile mark the Spyder back fired a couple of times and then I got the Check Engine Light. The Spyder decelerated and I was able to get off of the road. After the Check Engine Light came on I was able to travel for a few miles at a slower speed. I had a light flash next to the odometer that showed the handle bars. When I stopped and turned off the engine I got the ABS Fault Light. After turning off the engine I took the key out and walked about 10 feet from the Spyder and waited for about 10 minutes. I got back on and started the engine and receive no Check Engine Light or ABS Fault. I was able to make the last 30 miles without incident.
My oil pressure and voltage was good. Was the old gas the problem? Should the Spyder go to the dealer? Any suggestions?
