• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone tried "Speed Bleeders" brake bleeders?

Speed Bleeders are GREAT. I installed a set on my previous 2013 STS.
I will be installing a set on my F3 at the first major service interval.
 
As above, I have used them on my past bikes, and they work great. That said, when the time comes to flush out the old fluid, I will be adding the bleeders :)
 
I'm overdue for my brake fluid change. It was supposed to get done last fall but I'm doing it now. SpeedBleeders are on the way and I hope to have them before the weekend. Using a vacuum pump works but is a PITA. I just got done putting gel pads in my seat too. Driver and passenger. Can't wait to take it out to see how it feels. :2excited:
 
Just installed mine over the weekend and bled with new brake fluid......super easy to do.

Look...the speed bleeders are God's gift to the DIY brake flush....there is no way to do it without someone helping unless you have speed bleeders and installing these is no issue whatsoever. These allow you to do the flush with no worries about getting air into the lines. Do it!! If your cheap....just buy one bleeder and move it around each caliper...but these are about 7$ so its 21$ plus I thinks 5-6 $ shipping.

If you have a vacuum pump with fluid reservoir you can do it by yourself. That's how I do it.
 
I just did my brake bleeding with speedbleeders and I can just say that every spyder and motorcycle owner should have them. Bleeding my spyder took half of the time this time around. Ready to ryde!
 
I just got done bleeding my brakes today, and I installed a set of speed bleeders all the way around!!! What a neat little tool, they are the best thing I've used for a while!! I have had the bleeders for over a year, don't know what took me so long to do the job, and I now have not only clean fresh fluid in my brakes, but I also have an improved higher pedal now!!! Well worth the money!!! :yes:

Speedbleeders are so good at simplifying a 2 person job down to an easy peasy 1 person job. I've had them on everything for decades and when I get something new, Speedbleeders to on that too.

My old girl has been suffering with some spongy brakes for a while. I replaced the pads and bled the system last year but did not do the module in the middle. I want to do it again and this time put in speed bleeders. There have been a few threads posted recently on the subject and it seemed to me that there was a bit of confusion on the right sizes to use. I wanted to make sure I got the right ones the first time so I'm checking here first before I order them. This is from the speed bleeders site for a 2010 RT:

I got an electronic version of the service manual for this bike and looked through some vids on Youtube that cover the bleeding using the speed bleeders and BUDS. I don't have BUDS for the final step, and even the guy who posted the vid doesn't think it's really necessary, so I'll skip that part.

Appreciate any help.

I got the speed bleeders the other week and jacked up the bike to put them in. I ran into a couple of problems.

The left front caliper doesn't look like it is doing anything. I put the bleeder in, and it doesn't flow any fluid. After some further checking, it looks like the caliper is locked up, but is not putting any pressure on the pads on that side. Looking online, I don't see any rebuild kits, so unless I can somehow figure out how to fix it, I will probably have to put a new one in there to the tune of a couple hundred. :cus:

The ABS/VCU unit is supposed to get a bleeder nipple. But for the life of me I don't see how I can get a wrench in there to put it in. Is there a trick to getting access to it or do I need to remove some tupperware? I've had the bike apart before, the last time about 3 years ago, to do plugs and wires and at that point I had the frunk off of it. Looking at my old pictures I took at the time, I still don't see it clearly. :banghead:

Finally, the rear caliper is pretty much hidden under the muffler. Is dropping the muffler the easiest way to access the nipple? FYI, this is a 2010 RT, and I did get an electronic version of the service manual. Thanks for any insights in advance.
