• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone tried "Speed Bleeders" brake bleeders?

I am with Peter here, like I said yes you can open the bleeder screw on a brake caliper in most cases if the res is above the bleeder in elevation and gravity bleed the air out. But at the end, I would have someone help me and do a couple cycles of pressure bleed for good measure, for all of the good reasons Peter mention. But I will say if you plain on bleeding your brakes on a regular basis, speed bleeders are a great add on!!

Nothing got sucked back in. It operated as if the bleeder did have a check valve built in. Also note that the Service Manual instructions say nothing of opening and closing the bleeder or using a check valve. I have bled brakes before where the open/close or check valve was required, I have also used a Mighty Vac to bleed brakes. Not my first rodeo. The point of my post is that the bleeder behaved as if it were a check valve and the Service Manual instructions are written as if that were the case.

Confirmed with Speedbleeders today that SB6100 is correct for front/rear calipers for my 2022 RTL

Thank you so much for posting this.

When you do a search on the website for "Speed Bleeder" it comes-up with 9 pages and 256 posts. And that doesn't include all the replies in each post.

It took me 3 days to eventually find this post with your reply :2excited:

I'll be ordering mine today!

Thanks again for sharing this info for us 2020+ folks!

That's cos you forgot the most IMPORTANT bit about searching for general info on any given topic!! :gaah:

You've gotta tick the 'Search Titles Only' box! :lecturef_smilie:

If you do that, you'll only get 1 page with just SIX threads shown in the search results; 2 in Spyder General Discussion (including this one. ;) ); 3 in RT Shop Talk; and 1 in GS & RS Shop Talk; then you use the info in Titles to choose which thread to read first!

I'd suggest that USUALLY, you might want to choose to look at the thread with the highest number of pages in it &/or the most recent post in it FIRST!!

Only you do still need to check the dates of the first post and the last few posts in the thread too, and maybe have a bit of a read too. :spyder:

Thanks for the tips Pete! :2thumbs:

I need to study the search section a bit more to understand all the different search options and parameters. :read:

Yes I had lots of search results, but as you suggest, I tried reading mostly the replies from 2020 and newer first since I was looking for fitment on 2020+ Spyders. In the end I found what I was looking for in a thread started Feb 2017.
Goes to show that you can sometimes find new answers in old threads. It just take a bit of patience. ;)

The one-way valve that Ranger Rick mentions in his post is available from Motion Pro www.motionpro.com. By using this you can eliminate the need to put speed bleeders on all three calipers. I think it is only about 12-13 dollars.

What about the review on the site? https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0143

"Great concept, but doesn't work
I purchased two of these. One came without the inner check valve. It was replaced in two days, great service! However, after that one of the units check feature wasn't air tight. The other unit was. The hosing is also very hard and for the unit to stay on the bleed valve I had to use a 3rd clamp. Worst of all, depending on the fit of the bleed valve, even with Teflon tape - air can still squeeze by the threads - so its best to close the bleed valve after pulsing the master cylinder. If you have to do that, then the tool doesn't fulfil its function. I also purchased a mini-bleeder and I hope that works better next time. This is a hard tool to get right, and Motion Pro keeps innovating, so that is encouraging.
