Anyone have any good Headlight upgrade suggestions?

After riding in the dark a couple times, I realize the headlights on this 2008 GS are terrible. I searched headlight upgrades and couldn't find anything that provided a good upgrade to the current lights. I believe the design of the headlights is probably the culprit. Anyone have any good suggestions on how to get better headlights for riding after dark?

:agree: .... I use the FAHREN brand and they work very very well ... 16,000 lumens .... or you can get higher - get the ones without the fan .....Mike

Blueknight911, do you know what model FAHREN bulbs you used?

I doubt mine would fit your 2010 ..... read the above post # 4. ..... His was an H-7 LED but it was for the RSS and You have an RT which has different style headlights ..... but check your owner's manual and see what it says ....Mike

In the video they look the same. But I'll check the owners manual. Auxbeam does make various replacement types, so hopefully they have a set that will fit mine. I might take DickB's advice and add auxiliary lights as well.

Hi i am looking at these will this work for my 2010 rt-s

FAHREN 9005/HB3 LED Headlight Bulbs, 22000LM 600% Bright LED Headlights Conversion Kit 6000K Cool White IP68 Waterproof, Pack of 2

langevn, That's what I was thinking about using. I'm hoping they work. Also, my projector beam lenses look cloudy. Is there a way to clean them inside?

Amazon had none of the lights mentioned in this thread. I ended up with some called Nineo Generation II. They're one of the few Amazon guaranteed will fit. My concern is that they have the big rectangular drive box. Where is that supposed to fit? Somewhere inside the headlight? Seems like it'd be pretty cramped. Not sure I like them, might need to send them back and find something different? Any thoughts?

I got my LED's for my 2015 RTL from Lamonster. He has an install vid, and the little box fits inside housing with just a little adjustment with a Dremel. Guaranteed fit when you go with approved vendor.

Well, the first thing you have to do is take one side out and check to see if it will or will not fit behind that housing! Like said above, some LED light set ups have the box which you have to Magiver in behind the light housing, but not having one of your setups in my hand to look at, I don't know what you're in for, it's not the same as my 2012! Good luck and think outside of the box!!!

I've tried researching LED's for my 2014 RT and there are enough different LED's out there to fill a shipping container to overflowing. I'd check with Baja Ron or Joe & Ann from Squared Away for their recommendations because I don't believe they sell LED's, they just install them.

Allow me to share this; my Freightliner truck had horrible visibility at night! I was talked into buying a super duper headlight that guaranteed more light! It worked beautifully! For about 2 weeks!

The problem was that the OEM bulbs were 55 watt, the new lights were 95 watts!

In two weeks I had to replace both wiring harnesses! To the tune of over $600.00. They burned up!

So when you move away from stock, please make sure it will work!

That's what I bought from TricLED for my '17 RT-L, Headlights and fog lights. Never put them in tho. Out in my shed in the box.

There are already (or were) LED headlight bulbs in there. Since the PO did it, I've no idea how long they've been in there. Had to replace the LED fogs last year or so. I'd buy from the "approved" vendors, but I'm retired, and the prices seemed a little steep. Since several people in this thread had found cheaper alternatives, I figured I'd try that. The tryke doesn't get much in the way of mileage, so I expect them to last a while.
