• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

16 National Parks – 8000+ Miles – 30 Days

About a month ago Lamonster put up a map of the SpyderLovers FB page showing a looped route from Nashville, TN west then north and then east. At various points on the map were listed the sites of at least 16 National Parks.

The map sketches a trip that has been organized by Country Roads Group Riding – a group in central TN which rides almost every weekend. Most are short, local rides but a few involve long-distance efforts. The group just finished a Natchez Trace ride and will ride the whole month of July in the West. Their site page is here:

http://countryroads.org/index2.htm

The specifics of the month-long ride are here:

http://countryroads.org/articles/12West/Ride_Details.htm

I have never seen the western parks and, at my age, am highly unlikely to drive out there to see them. But, I jumped at the chance to ride my Spyder with a small (8 – 10 persons) group in this “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

So, on July 5[SUP]th[/SUP] I will be riding south to meet the group at 7AM on July 7[SUP]th[/SUP] to begin the adventure. We return to Nashville on August 5[SUP]th[/SUP].

My Spyder will be the only one in the group which, I’m told, will be made up of heavy crusiers. I’ve been preparing for this ride for months; indeed, SpyderFest was a sort of “dry-run”.

If there is any interest here, I will post periodic reports.

Here’s the map.

That looks like a great ryde. Wish I didn't have so much going on this summer, I would join you. Let us know how the trip is going I think alot of us live vicariously through others posts. Have a wonderful time. Penny

:yikes: Thats one long ride, but looks really fun. This type of ride is on my bucket list but I'm afraid I will have to wait until I retire.

Take lots of picture and post as you go when you can, ride safe.

You'll be taking a very similar route to the 8500 mile 29 day trip Erags and I took in 2009 that led to our decision to buy our :spyder2: and toyhauler. We traveled from Florida to Utah to NW Montana to Colorado, visiting 19 national parks and monuments, in a pickup truck. We had to stay on schedule since the trip ended in a Navy reunion in Colorado Springs. We saw national parks I had never heard of before! Beautiful countryside. You'll love the scenery and the varied riding...we would love to revisit the area on the :spyder2: this year but we're taking a more northwestern route this year to try to find cooler temperatures for riding. Should be a great trip...be safe.

It sounds like a great adventure. I would love to read about your thoughts on the trip! If you decide to keep a journal on the forum.

That is going to be one great adventure. I have had the pleasure of visiting most of the western parks at least once--they are truely a sight to behold and enjoy.

We look forward to your travelouge and many pictrures to go with it.

You are in for the ride and time of your life. :2thumbs::2thumbs:

:yes: Teddy & I will be anxiously following along :popcorn:

Very Interested....

Yicks this looks like a very interesting trip....

I would be VERY interested in hearing and seeing more of your travels. As it is a trip I would love to do myself if time allows. For me I would start up in the north end and end again there. So if you find the time to keep us posted on your adventure that would be GREAT.

Thanks

Doug

I just did 8,000+ miles in 34 days. It was my once in a lifetime ride also, although it could become an annual event after finding out do-able it was. Never let age or fear stop you from living your dreams. I turn 70 this month and aside from being a bit gimpy, I'm in good shape.

Just do it dude and.........

Ride in comfort,

I'm jealous:ohyea::yes::yes: Sounds like a dream trip. Can't wait to read about your adventures:popcorn::popcorn:

I'm going to be the 1st to say that: "if you do not keep us posted on this awesome adventure you are PERMANENTLY banned from this website" :p Fort Dodge Iowa is 15 miles from my house (and it's your overnight stay on August 2nd) I don't know if you guys are recruiting guides (free gratis) but maybe it'd be cool to have riders across the country guide you too or from their local home areas? Otherwise, I could help give advice on which hotel to stay in :dontknow:
