• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

"IF" BRP comes out with a Touring Spyder...

With any luck, the release of a new model will reduce the resale value of the existing models. Then I can score a deal on one for my g/f, who would really like her own! :2thumbs:

Differences in the 08 and 09 model

My SE5 - serial 123 - was originally purchased in Sept '08. And, BTW, it's still running perfectly at almost 4000 miles with nothing but scheduled maintenence and the steering software update. I bought it used with 1000 miles in late April of this year. My 3000 miles have been a blast.

    Louder After Recall

It appears that they leaned the mixture a bit in the new fuel map and leaner running can give a bit more rasp or zing to exhaust notes (at least from my experience jetting quads).

Man, and WE complain about warm legs....

    Steering Update and Fuel Mileage

Do you ride one (or more) block back to make sure you put the garage door down, like I do?

    Heli bars vs Nomagic risers

I'm waiting for the apehanger version. :ohyea:

    Steering Update and Fuel Mileage

I have seen a significant increase. I was averaging 25 before, about 30 now (lots of 2 up riding).

    Heli bars vs Nomagic risers

If you don't know about it, you might want to add the Spyder City riser to your list. Love mine, best bang for the buck, IMO.

    Spyder Won't Start

Hearing a relay CLICK but no start is the giveaway here... if you don't press on the brake pedal in gear on an SE5 you don't hear that CLICK when pressing the starter button. In my case this has happened twice - all is normal, all proper starting procedure, but just a CLICK - no starter... the...

Please post pictures Spyder City Risers

You're welcome, and yes, due to the angle of the steering shaft, you can assume that the riser effectively moves the bars closer in a straight line directly towards your head - contributing in both height and reach.

Potential Buyer - Time to Stay Clear of a Spyder

I would guess that if there were additional fires, at least some of our members would have heard about it through one means or another (as was the case with today's post related to an accident in Australia) and would report it here. If we assume that some fires got by without detection by our...

    Spyder update, STEERING FAILURE

Without a hell of a lot more information, attributing this accident to 'steering issues' is premature and is just as wreckless as immediately assuming it was the driver's fault. Time will tell. HOWEVER, if any and all riders who DO find a power steering loss due to loose relay will report to...

Potential Buyer - Time to Stay Clear of a Spyder

Yah, I thought something must have put that idea in my head... what I lose in originality, I gain in thoroughness.

Potential Buyer - Time to Stay Clear of a Spyder

A quick look at some (perhaps flawed) logic: NHTSA states that there are 69.33 motorcycle fatalities per 100,000 registered bikes per year or about 0.7 per thousand / year - 0.07%. I don't know how many Spyders BRP has sold to date, but they recalled approximately 10,000 for the steering...

    New front tires

The three adjustments related to front end alignment are caster, camber and toe-in. The manual specifies toe-in - 0mm +- 0.5mm, a camber angle - 0 degrees +- 0.5 degree and a caster angle - 80.9 degrees +- 0.5 degree. On the :spyder2: toe-in is easily adjusted via changing the tie-rod lengths...

    New 2009 Spyder Owner

Not so... any astronomer will tell you - if it's shifted towards the red, it's moving away from you faster; as you will notice if you're on another color while riding with a red :spyder2:. His tail light will just get smaller and smaller until it disappears completely into the cosmos! :D

    easy fix

With a whiffle valve controlling the reverse flow through a flux capacitor, the performance can be frightening! Seriously, from my cursory looks at the :spyder2:'s electrical schematics, it appears as if disconnecting the battery (and then shorting the leads together) should have no effect on...

A couple of pics from my install... as said above, not much to see. Just look at the top of the stock BRP bar clamp and there it is. You'll notice that the angled bottom of the handlebar cover that, stock, almost touches the dashboard is now 3" above it. The change in riding comfort is...

    Nice 91 octane Ride

Air/fuel ratio also significantly affects pre-detonation, so if you're 'juiced' a little lean, you are likely to have pre-det with the appropriate knock sensor reduction in timing advance and concomitant performance. Higher octane in this case should help overcome the pre-det and return the...
