There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder update, STEERING FAILURE

Can someone tell me which relay controls the power steering system? After getting the Spyder out of the trailer this morning, I found the center and left one not seated real good in thier sockets. The roads I was on yesterday were pretty rough and I was pushing it hard ( for me) so maybe I shook the stuff loose. Thanks for any help...Dave

It's the relay closest to the center of the fuse box. There are 2 relays directly next to it on the far right of the fuse box. 1 is top right the other bottom right. The top right is the headlight relay. The first time I had a problem with my steering all my relays were very loose, almost to the point of coming all the way out. This happened after some very aggressive driving trying out my new sway bar.

Thanks, Main relay #2 it is. Thats one of the 2 that I found to be lose. I added a small piece of rubber to the cover to hold them better. Gonna come up with straps to keep them in place if my test ride today is a success. I was hoping for a simple fix and this might have been it. PS, how does the swaybar feel. I added one to my honda 700XX quad and it was like night and day

Definitely worth it! Wish I had done this mod sooner.

Without a hell of a lot more information, attributing this accident to 'steering issues' is premature and is just as wreckless as immediately assuming it was the driver's fault. Time will tell.

HOWEVER, if any and all riders who DO find a power steering loss due to loose relay will report to both BRP and the NHTSA, we may just find a 'relay support structure' (a conformally molded piece of foam to insert into the fuse box) as part of the next BRP recall.

Come to think of it... I could design one and sell it on ebay for $14.95, just like the trunk spring! :roflblack:

58 miles of twisty, bumpy roads and no steering issues at all. Stopped a few times to check the relays and all were tight. Now to do a better job of securing tem than an extra piece of rubber pushing down on them. Thanks to all for the comments and ideas....Dave

UPDATE: 128 miles of the twistiest roads I have been on today, cool temps outside, Spyder runnung at 3 bars and NO steering or backfiring problems at all. It was a great day on Warwoman rd and up thru Highlands/Cashiers NC.

Lots of downshifting, engine braking with no popping at all. Steering stayed nice and smooth all day.:clap::2thumbs::2thumbs:
