• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Spent part of the afternoon in the garage cleaning and inspecting. If you have Shad Bags installed you might want to check "ALL" of the Phillips & T20 screws that hold them together. This is the 2nd time I've re-torqued all of them and they've needed it! Twice in almost 15k miles. They all needed 1/8th of a turn or more. Just a thought. Everything else on the machine was still tight, with the exception of the bolts on the Route 129 (windshield) that attach to the instrument cluster. They were a little loose.

Dasmoetorhead's post about checking the tightness of bolts and screws on the Spyder brought back a memory from a trip to Colorado/New Mexico last year. Both of us wear Shark helmets, which are modular, allowing the chin guard to be rotated clear to the back of the helmet making it essentially a 3/4 helmet. Mine started acting up and not wanting to rotate smoothly. Upon checking, I found 3 screws lose, and 2 more were missing. We stopped at a Napa store in Monte Vista, CO and I picked up a set of Torx head screw drivers and got the remaining screws tightened up. Upon arriving home, I hit my local Ace Hardware, where I found they had the right size screws, so got it all permanently fixed with the aid of a little locktite on each screw. The new screws were silver and those on the helmet were black, so a little aluminum oxide gun blue fixed them right up. Good as new, now.

@rjinaz86323 ^ I had to retire a perfectly good HJC 90 for the same reasons you mentioned. Only difference was the locking mechanism had a specific bolt that you cannot purchase. Good news was HJC gave me a 100% refund on the helmet after 1.5 years of use. I thought that was good on them. I bought an LS2 modular Helmet and couldn't be happier. I still check the locking mechanism on it before use.

I packed a nice lunch and rode down to Benbow, CA. Used to be a nice man-made lake there years ago, but the environmentalists couldn't have that, so they took the little dam out. Now it's a State Park that's not used much, but that was my destination, because it overlooks the river, and it has picnic tables and vault restrooms.
The wx wasn't bad, but that darn Avenue of the Giants Hwy stays kinda wet due to the trees are so tall and they block the sun. Being winter, the sun is low of course, and that doesn't help. All in all, a good time. I also turned over 15,000 miles on the odometer.

Took the Spyder out to play on the snow around the neighborhood. We only got about 2"-2.5", but it was enough for now. All 100 Counties in NC got some measurable amount of snow this weekend. I don't remember it ever doing that. We actually got the short end of the stick. 40 miles North, East, or West of Wake County, and there was 6"+ of snow. My goal was to take it over to the park across the street. But I knew from just taking it out of the garage, it would have been stuck. There is a hill leaving the park and this thing would have never been able to make it.

I was wondering what effect a slippery snowy surface would have on the nanny. Would the slipping be enough to mess with its mind and make riding the Spyder no fun?

I replaced the stock handlebars on my new (new to me; got it with only 384 miles) 2020 F3L. I have a 2022 F3L SS at my other home and after a couple of rides on the new one, my shoulders were hurting. I couldn't understand why the same model bike seemed different to me. I did a little research and found that the special series come with a short reach handlebar, while the standard F3L's have a longer reach handlebar. I saw a number of posts where others had the same issue that I did. I replaced the stock bars with the short reach bars and it has made a great difference. I took it for a monthly 200 mile ride Saturday with the San Diego group and all is well now.

Do you have pics comparing the standard and the short-reach bars?

Did lots of spinning and some sliding and the nanny actually didn't come on at all. In fact, it didn't even give me the icon on the dash. I was actually expecting that. Maybe it was because I wasn't really going that fast.

I finally have Android Auto displayed on my 24 F3S screen. Still some bugs in the dongle software but the developer has been very helpful. I think there might be a working solution for this coming.
