What oil other than BRP oil can be used in the :spyder:. I have not found the leak as yet.

This weight oil will not meet BRP specs! The Spyder takes 5W40 synthetic, with restrictions on the specification, too. Some folks have substituted 10W40 motorcycle oils (Amsoil) and some have used 5W40 Shell Rotella diesel (I think). Look at some old post here. or do a search.RP MOTO 4T 20W50

Read your manual and look carefully at any oil you substitute to make sure it meets the spec. You already have a major problem that needs dealer attention. Don't void the warranty with the wrong oil. A good dealer would pick the wounded Spyder up at your house since it is not rideable, BTW.

Yeah, scary when the dealer doesn't follow BRP's own spec. If there were an oil related problem, BRP certainly wouldn't cover it under warranty, and you would be forced to sue the dealer directly. Ouch! I'd be asking some real serious questions, or finding another dealer pronto.I think I'd be saving that documentation someplace safe.......
Just wondering why everyone always wants to skimp on oil. This is the most important thing you can do to keep the bike in good condition. A few bucks now sure beats a bunch later plus all the time of no bike to ride and the troubles with having to get it fixed.:dontknow:
As an avid reader of this forum and soon to be Spyder owner I have a question.
It seems the first thing people do when they get (some even before!) their spyder is plunk down several hundred to several thousand dollars on mods, add-ons, upgrades, etc. but worry/want to save a couple of bucks on something as important as oil? :dontknow:
This dealer should be shot in the:cus: Head. This is the oil that the BRP dealer in Florida used in my bike (reading invoices) for over 9,000 miles. :read:
I use MOBIL 1... If BRP doesn't show this as an alternative, so be it. I'll use the BRP Synthetic. I will not go cheap on oil. It's not worth it...
