• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Worst Can-Am Service and parts departments

I posted about my former dealer when I first signed on to SL. I wouldn't name them. Thing is, everybody that had a Spyder or Victory and went there for service had problems. I agree that it's not a good idea to mention the name. There are a lot of dealers who read SL. I was talking to Rene at BRP the other day. We talked about my former dealer and the one I'm using now.

On another note, BRP hitches are on backorder. I don't know why. The dealer should have told you that. I have also found that a lot of dealers are still under the impression that the 2014 has a 600 mile service. They just don't seem to be reading the info sent out by BRP.

The hitch thing just kills me. BRP puts out trailers with no hitches. And the backorders them to all the dealers, but their own parts website lists them as available now. Before I think it said limited availability.

In the past, worst dealer threads have not seemed to be a good idea.

You surely have a complaint here, and your story would make good opening dialog on any of the evening talk shows.

Posting about individual situations are good, but trying to come up with a list of "poison" dealers is not a good idea--IMO. Sometimes, a bad mistake, or a bad way of handling a situation can result in unearned reputation for some dealers.

I am one of the first to jab on a dealer with bad service. The occasional references take their toll on the bad ones. I don't think we need a posted list.

Well said.............................I second the motion!

On the flipside...........................Lakeside Motorsports in Mecosta MI is my dealership, and they've been very good to me so far! Recommend them to anyone!

Bummer..!!

Sorry for your unfortunate experience at your dealership. Glad you were able to vent here and we know and understand. The best is to find another who will meet the basic requirements of a good one. It's not that hard to keep customers informed so as not to waste their time....the good list would be nice...

I changed from my original dealer , even though they were great for my other , ATV's sleds . But when it came to servicing Spyders , they suck!
I go to lakeside or peacock in Michigan , they care about their customers and know the product !

bad and good

while traveling across this beautiful country stoped ast dealer A brake problem said you needf complerte brake overrhaul about$600.00 and 4 dasys several hundred miles later dealer B said your still under warranty fixed it in twenty minutes no chasrge out the door be careful my friends

The shop I use to go to I would drop off on Monday morning at opening they would tell me maybe done Wednesday and this was just for a service :gaah:

We always review dealers on YELP so other consumers know what they are walking into locally in NH. I'm glad other do this as well it helped us when we first bought to know who to trust.

I have been waiting since January for my trailer hitch. Delivery of hitch was suppose to be April 17th but no show. At least I didn't need it for Spyderfest. I hope it's in for when I go to The Bluenose Rally fourth of July weekend. :dontknow:

When I started this thread it was to make people aware of the situation that I have experienced with Ride Now Powersports. I have a new appointment next week to finally get my 3,000 mile checkup and at that time I am going to sit down with the owner or general manager or whoever is in charge and ask them if they are aware of what is actually going on in the dealership. I know that their job will be to support their employees ,however if they are not aware of the customer dissatisfaction then shame on them. I worked in car dealerships before in the service department and the staff were trained on the new products when they were released. A large multi line dealership like Ride Now usually has brand specialists, and we were told that they have a trained specialist for Can-Am trikes. I would much rather be on here praising my local dealer for the great service and customer relations, however that is not the case in this situation. My wife and I run a small Hot Rod shop and trike trailer business and give each customer our total attention and it only takes one unhappy customer to ruin your business reputation.

The type of post initiated by the OP is one that goes up on the site about two or three times a year. There are just too many variables to consider when you decide to denigrate or praise a dealership.

Usually on this site we hear only one side and, as we all know there are at least two sides and could be more if the manufacturer is involved.

I think we all need to operate by our own experiences. If you are burned once.... only a fool puts the hand back in the fire.

Unfortunately the dealer we have dealt with for the past six years made some changes recently (including personnel) that made us unhappy. This is a dealership I have praised on this site in the past but I have come to realize that in a lot of dealerships changes are ongoing and sometimes they aren't positive.

Last week I had a problem with my RT and took it to another area dealer that I had heard some negative things about in the past. I visited, met their service manager and decided that I would leave the Spyder with them. We had the usual wait on parts but the problem got diagnosed and solved in a timely manner and they also found another problem I wasn't aware of.

I picked up my Spyder yesterday and am happy with how things worked out.

IMO we should stay away from lists and polls. If someone near you posts something about a dealer you can always PM for more information.

First of all I am stuck with this dealer for my normal maintanance due to my Gas-N-Go purchase at the time we bought our RT. I asked if we could transfer to another dealer and they said it only is good for their dealership. There is too much money involved to just throw up my hands and go to another dealer for the needed routine services. I am perfectly capable of doing the services myself, but when you pay for something called customer service then you expect to recieve just that. A competent ,friendly staff that looks down the road at future business.

In fairness to compare nd make educated decisions. Build a poll listing all US Dealers. Have it easy to chose, good experience or bad experience, no details. Most complainers will post, but the good responses will bring the cream to the top.

PK

There actually is a list of good dealers somewhere here in the Archives. I cannot find it at the moment.

Then your plan to meet with the owner/manager is the correct step to take.

Good luck.

thankfully there are other dealers in your area, such as Central Florida Powersports

sometimes you get a good dealer, and sometimes unfortunately you get a bad one - they do exist....

and since they are not the only dealer in your area, its best to move on to another
