Good morning everybody. Sorry but I did not want to start a poop storm for making this post. normally I would not look so carefully but this is my first bike and I paid a lot for it as did everyone else. because I was looking so carefully yesterday for more wiring damage I was unable to find anymore without removing a lot of panels. I will leave that to the dealer. Unfortunately, I did find other damage that makes me want to get very upset. It looks like the bike either bottomed out when being tested or bottomed out when backing down a ramp. Several damaged panels underneath and scuff marks on nose of trunk. attached are two pictures. When bike was delivered it was torrential downpour and it has been sitting in a dark garage for one week not taken out for a ride even because insurance did not kick in until today.
I'm a new owner of a 2014 Can Am RT. Was delivered last week by dealer in a totally enclosed trailer to my house. Brand new from the crate it was assembled and put in their unheated storage area until it was tested and delivered. Right after delivery I started to get ready to install JT's bracket and dual usb kit. On removal of plastic around centre main display I found wires had been chewed by mice to expose bare wires at the spare instrument plug end. I immediately notified dealer who said they had this problem 3 years ago and would replace any damaged parts.
Luckily I haven't ridden yet. What should I ask for when they take back bike for repair? Installation of usb, pictures of repairs, 1 year of warranty? In 35 years of owning vehicles I've never had a problem like this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Didn't notice the different country thing.....However, that's a huge risk taking delivery of something like that uninsured. Again, JMHO....Nothing fishy on my end. I was waiting to take 2 day riders training course for Spiders and was getting insurance activated the day bike arrived. The dealer delivered 1 week early.
Bike was brand new in the box. 0 miles or kilometres in Canada. Dealer is already ordering all scratched / damaged Tupperware based on pictures I sent and offered to throw in some addons while being repaired. An extra years warranty as well to compensate for troubles. Pretty fair IMHO. No yelling, screaming, threatening, just very easy to do business with.In the USA selling a used/demo machine as new is a big problem for the dealer. I'm thinking that your country has laws as well. Tell the dealer that you want a new bike or you call the lawyers. Fixing that front end damage is "replacement" but my thought would be what else is wrong. Best case this was a demo and abused, or used and he is trying to screw you. Him sending the trailer to pick it up, seems his way of trying to cover it up.
Glad they are fixing your Spyder and it should look like new as it is a new bike.Hope you really enjoy it i,m still on the learning curve here.Bike was brand new in the box. 0 miles or kilometres in Canada. BAH! A typical Canadian ... LOL
(For the benefit of the non-Canadians ... a typical Canadian dealer would think his reputation is far more important to protect than a bit of profit. Mind you they typically do not discount as much as our American friends so they should be able to afford it too!!!)
