Who do you go thru for insurance?

In WA

I pay $777 a year for FULL coverage with GEICO. They also have a WINTER STORAGE plan in the policy. I store my bike in Oct and it automatically goes back to full coverage on April 1st  While in storage you can ride the bike and be covered for service work  . You can call and restart full coverage with Geico at any time.:2thumbs:

I was told the :spyder2: was a little higher than my 2011 HD Ultra Limited because of the repairs and :spyder2: accidents that the insurance companies have had to deal with. Also your driving record/tickets/accidents add $$.

Still Geico Ins has the best rates I have been able to find since 2004.

Good Luck

All this baloney about where you live etc is just that, its your credit score. Want to prove it? Get a friend with a poor score (below 680) to get a quote all other things being equal. Further warning, if your credit score has taken a hit lately and you are thinking of adding the spyder to a multi item policy, dont do it, it will trigger a review of all your pilicies.

Ill have to ask my agent about this, my credit score has been over 800 for 20 years!

I have my insurance through Bob Denman and when Bob speaks, people listen.:roflblack: $152/year spyder and bike full coverage. Was paying in the mid $300, so half off. Switching my other ins. stuff as we speak. So if your in NY give him a shout.

Get our via State Farm in Missouri. They have our two cars and home insurance. The Spyder cost us $40/mo for excellent coverage. I'm listed as the primary driver at age 36 with a flawless driving record and claim record. Geico and Progressive for me were almost double.

Almost impossible to respond due to factors such as age, driving record, rating for your specific community, etc. Foremost seems to have great rates for Spyders because they actually seem to understand what they are. Many companies have no clue as to what a Spyder is and how to rate it.
Well said. The OP might wish to make some calls to local agents, and scope out insurance sites on the net. Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys! I'm thinking my rate is so high is cuz i have 0 yrs riding experience. when i put in 11 yrs just to see if that was it, it dropped over $400. is it worth lying on riding yrs to save $$?? hehehe...

I have GEICO for my insurance. I am 39, have a clean driving rocord and have a 2013 RS. I pay $285 per year for full coverage (great coverage) with $500 deductibles. I have unfortunily had to use them for a claim before and they were AWESOME!

Have you had your motorcycle endorsement for 11 years?
A material misrepresentation on an application is considered grounds to cancel a policy...
...and might also be considered as fraud...

Interesting thread... my Spyder RS is with Progressive, $107/month for:

Full comp
Liability (Texas minimum)
$250 deductible
$3K PIP
Roadside assistance and towing
Uninsured/underinsured motorist.

I'm 43 with a perfectly clean driving record ~800 credit score (checked when I got half this Spyder RS financed at my bank last month), and 16 year home owner with a pickup truck insured thru Geico for over 13 years already. I don't have previous motorcycle experience however, but I am planning to take a Motorcycle (Spyder-friendly) Safety Course once temps cool down this Fall which should give me another 10% or so off on my Progressive policy.

Now Geico wanted $150/month for same policy with $500 deductible and absolutely no PIP, even though I'd had my pickup truck insured with Geico for over 13 years already... I was not pleased with their Spyder insurance quote, having been a good and loyal policy holder for so long! Oh well, my truck is still with Geico ($58/month full comp and liability and all) but the Spyder is with Progressive for now. Not saying I'm thrilled with Progressive's policy cost but I could not find anything significantly better with comparable coverage.

When comparing policy costs make sure you're really comparing apples-to-apples... do you get PIP coverage for instance? Geico wanted $350 more on a 6 month policy (~$58/month more) for $3K PIP on my Spyder for instance. Personal Injury Protection is a very good thing to have on your policy in case you are in an accident no matter who's at fault; I collided with another pickup truck in 2003 that had made an illegal left turn in front of me, I was not faulted nor ticketed and I did file for PIP with Geico at my attorney's suggestion since I had to do PT for a month for my neck! Roadside assistance and towing is great to have also and costs only a few dollars per month.

I'd kill to have the Spyder fully insured for about what I'm paying for my truck per month (what some of ya'll are posting you're paying for your Spyder coverage), I've no idea if ya'll have comparable coverage or not though. Nobody else who's posted has mentioned PIP for instance... :dontknow:

It's probably the zero experience that's driving your rate...
Time will cure that!
(But patience is so hard to find!)

That doesn't make my pocket-book feel any better friend... :(

And I'm doing pretty darned good on the Spyder so far I think.... I've successfully avoided 2 major accidents (both would have been the other driver's fault!) in the 5 weeks I've owned it so far, over some 600+ miles of driving the Spyder. Pity the insurance company has no idea how careful and defensive I'm being when driving this machine. :banghead:

Insurance cost

I insure with Dairyland. For my Spyder RT-S and my V-Strom 650 the annual premium is $472 for 100/300 liability, collision and comprehensive with $250 deductible. This is in Vermont and I am 69 years old with a clean driving record. Well, almost. One speeding ticket in over 50 years of driving.

Cost in California

I live in the state with the largest number of vehicles of any state, and in a suburb of Los Angeles. So, I expect to pay a lot. But I guess I was wrong. I am with GEICO, and I have the max coverage for everything they offer. My Spyder insurance is about the same as my Prius insurance. I have been riding for about 20 years, I completed a training class, and I have a 2-wheeler MC endorsement. My credit was 819 when I bought the Spyder. And I've been a homeowner for over 30 years. My Spyder is 2012 RTS purchased new in May, 2013. I have not had an accident or ticket for about 21 years. I am paying $650 a year. That works out to $54.18 a month, if I did the arithmetic right. This is the same as for my Prius and for my Ford Edge.

This is my dilemma, great driving record, credit score over 820, but no experience? payment of $900 a year for insurance?????

Although I have not had a ticket in 6-7 years, I think I've had 20 speeding tickets before that....so I might be your opposite. :roflblack:

No tickets for anything; ever! 41 years of driving...
But I've filled out more than my fair share of accidents reports over the years... :opps:

That's better than what I'm paying. I think mine is what... ~$650 or so for 6 months of insurance? $1284 for a full year! Eeek! I feel poor now, so poor. :helpsmilie:

The only way to get experience driving a Spyder is to DRIVE a Spyder and that requires you have insurance... it's the same catch-22 we all faced when we were teenagers just getting our driver's license. :banghead: The only difference is, we're adults now (ok maybe not at heart... but we have experience on the highway system already ok!), it's not like we don't know the rules of the road it's mainly a matter of getting used to a different type of machine on the road and this machine is alot more like a compact car that you ride on top of than a 2-wheeled motorcycle that tries to fall over everytime you come to a stoplight or stopsign, IMHO! Give us a BREAK!
