• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Be on notice that if you use oil not directly labeled by BRP you have voided you BEST program, and anything that can be connected to it in any small way will be.
Go ahead say it is not legal. Well spend twice what your spyder cost to fight it to gain $3000.

C'mon man---- just buck up and tell us what's going on. BEST isn't going to just void your warranty if you're using an oil that meets all the required specs.

The Warranty document would have to make a specific statement saying that ONLY BRP Lubricating Products can be used, (which it won't say because it is illegal).

This issue has been through the courts and settled, there really isn't any legal debate at all about it. All that is (or can be) required is that the correct Specifications be met by the oil used.

Dealers and others may attempt to film-flam a customer, but having to deal with less than honest people does not change the law.

I know that Amsoil will help you fight a fraudulent denial of claim with documentation. I'm not saying they will provide you with legal council but it is in their best interest to keep these warrantee people (and false rumors) honest.

I beleive other oil companies will help with information in a case like this as well.

You should be able to take this amount to small claims court which is not expensive at all, you get a fast and usually very fair settlement too. My experience with Small Claims Court is that if you're right, you win. Shady practice businesses hate small claims court. If they know they are wrong they may simply honor the warrantee without any court appearance or judgement. They can't bring legal council and it's a very straight up process.

It sounds like you have some repair issues and I'm sorry about that. But it doesn't necessarily mean that others will experience the same thing.

Now why didn't I just say this instead of going to all the time and trouble with my reply?! I've got to Simplify! :gaah:

I just switched to Amsoil. I was checking into Amsoil and the dealer I was talking to set me up as a dealer so I made a purchase and changed the oil.

hater1, you're off base here. Not using BRP oil will not void your warranty.

And I will say it. It's not legal. And for your info, if I had to seek legal action it wouldn't cost me a dime.

Amsoil

I was determined to use BRP's Semi Synthetic in my RT and did for the 600 and the 3000 mile changes but I found that it foamed so much that it took between 45 seconds to a minute to settle down to get an accurate reading on my oil level. I check my oil just after a long ride when good and hot. Amsoil does not do that so that is what is in my RT, guess it all comes down to personal choice.

Actually, I have been surprised at these numbers. Not scientific by any means but I would not have guessed so many were using Amsoil. Surprised at how many are using the BRP full synthetic as well.

Hope you had fun with this one! :ohyea:

Been using Amsoil since the first oil change. Works great...no problems!

Synthetic is the way to go for me...I never did trusted those dang ole dinosaurs!!! :D

This poll essentially ended a year ago. I am wondering if things have changed at all.

One interesting item is that the use of BRP blended oil, 35%, did not translate into a single vote for Castrol blended oil, which is the same product.

This does not hold true for BRP 'Full Synthetic'. Its market twin being Castrol 'Full Synthetic' which got a 12% vote.

Some Guy;369301 Does anyone remember when Walmart was all about "Made in the U.S.A."??? [/QUOTE said:
I do, But then the price of their products got too expensive, For ''their'' customers.

Other --Walmart full synthetic 10/40

Worrk in Wal-Mart auto dept. and have never seen "Wal-Mart" MC oil. I purchase 10-40 Valvoline 4T Full Synthetic Motorcyle oil at Wal-Mart for the Spyder. Just after we got the Spyder and I joined the forum I saw a thread on oil the linked to an Amsoil test of MC oil. Valvoline 4T was rated in the top five not far below Amsoil and Motul.

OIL ?

As we ( I ) seem to take care of our bikes better then the SO. I try hard to save a buck so I can buy flowers.
I take the full Synthetic out of the bike and put it in the car, then the car oil goes in the truck, the truck oil in the lawn mower
then whats left starts the fire for the weenie roast.

several cases-----

I switched mine over to amsoil 10-40 motorcycle oil after the first service. no problems what so ever....but then again I am a dealer for Amsoil so Im a little bias.

The local Harley dealer techs around here have been telling the guy's to run it in the HD bikes engine and trans...I sell several cases of 20-50 motorcycle oil a week to the harley riders.
that's because most of it ends up on the ground, right?:roflblack::roflblack:
