• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What the weatherman got right.

The only thing the weatherman got right for my area is: it's going to snow and it's going to be cold. They predicted 18-24 inches of snow for me. I got 6 inches on top of 2 inches that was on the ground. It is now sleeting and the radar is showing it will be over in my area very soon. I wont watch The Weather Channel. They always make everything sound worse than it is. In fact, Jim Cantori has been caught faking several videos. Accuweather isnt any better and its full of ads. WeatherUnderground is very good for radar and usually the forecast. But they got it wrong too. Does anyone have a weather website they like and feel is accurate most of the time? I want a reliable source to use on my phone for rides.

In my area, the total was on the lower side of their predictions,(10") but basically got I right. Sleeting here now, but supposed to change back to snow before it winds down.

Over here in Vermont , they forecasted 18- 24 inches of snow( in the central part of Vermont) and it is still snowing. The other parts of the state getting more/or less.

Then tonight, the winds start blowing and temps drop. We have an artic blast of cold on Monday. We a have a wind chill advisory ( temps in -30 below).

Tuesday we get a break from the weather, Then on Wednesday An other Storm, at least the temps will be in the 30's ( above zero), this storm will be messy.

I use Accu Weather website.

I cannot help with accuracy of reporting. Mother Nature sometimes does what she wants...just to show us who is in charge.

But...it's nice to have a job where you get paid for a best guess.

I generally try to draw the best conclusion I can from 3 apps I use. Given they don’t always specify where the station is they are getting the data from it can yield results pretty different from actual. My in-laws live in the Sierra Foothills but the reporting station on one of the apps I use is 1500 feet lower so I know I have to subtract about 7 -10 degrees from their forecast.

Also since weather reporting tends to cover large geographic areas I still never am sure what I’m going to get.

Joel I use the My Radar app on my phone while riding and when stopping for gas, check the local conditions, but like that I can see any storm fronts coming in towards my route.
I don't know that it's forecast is any better than the others though.

The most accurate in Wichita, KS is the weather sites for ABC, CBS, or NBC local channels. Each has radar and forecasts (daily and hourly).

Nothing is perfect. But, between the three we get a pretty darned good 'picture' of the future. The local channels nearly always use the 'European' model for 'radar' predictions.

Each of these channels has mobile apps. So, we can check local weather anywhere.

I hope this helps.

Add me to the group with My radar. Like to see where things are and where they are heading. I will find out how much cause I'm out there. As for weatherman I have always said.."Give the man a window" :roflblack:

in black jack if you are right 51% of the time you get rich, 51% in school and you are retarded, in tv meteorology if you would be right 40%
of the time you are a star.
