Now that is some snow.

Picture is from a mountain road that usually open up for normal traffic 21st of May and close 1st of November. Picture date is May 19th.
The day of opening a lot of bikers and cars queued up to cross over to the next valley, and it is a fun ride as well.

Day 2 of the winter warmup. 40 today again. Bluebird sky and sunshine. Next two days a cool down to 25 ish and then back up to the 40's.

Today here in Vermont the temp was 25 degrees and we had some sunshine, but mostly cloudy. It has been seasonably cold lately, but now it is about to get REALLY Cold. A shot of cold air will be coming in on brisk North winds starting tonight, and it will stay unseasonably cold through much of the weekend.

There will be a few beams of sunshine early on Friday morning near the Canadian Border, otherwise, clouds will rule the skies right through Saturday. There will be a few scattered snow showers on Saturday too, but they won't amount to much.

The BIGGER story will be how cold it will be. Temps will be well below normal through the weekend. Those cold temps, coupled with a brisk North wind, will make it feel like it is in the single digits and even BELOW zero, especially during the overnight hours.

Temps and wind chills will moderate a bit for the end of the weekend on Sunday. But then there will be a big jump in those temps as we get into next week. Highs will be getting back into the 30's again. A minor system may spread a few snow showers around on Tuesday, and there may be some raindrops mixed in on Wednesday as temps climb above the freezing mark.

(Off Topic: I am going riding on my sled on Friday, but I am not going on Saturday or Sunday due to the cold temps. This will be my first sled ride this season. I do have heated gear).

Everyone stay healthy, and warm!

Tomorrow the high is 75°, so I have a small group ride planned on a nice twisty road - capped off with some fish fry at the end!

Friday 1/19/24

:coffee:....Welcome to Friday's weather news from Indiana. Currently cloudy and 21°F.
The temperature will drop off all day. Going down to 5°F tonight. I received 2" of new snow this morning. Calling for some more snow showers in the afternoon for maybe 3-6" total. Wind Chill makes for -16°F.

High today of 22°F with some snow showers.
Low of 5°F .
Next season I am going to try to find a warmer place.
This snow and freezing temperatures are no fun for us.
:shemademe_smilie:....The wife said it was time for us to make it happen.

Stay Warm and Be Safe. ....

:chat:....First off that temperature must be in Arizona (75°F).

They lowered the expected high all the way down to 73! The sun is being filtered by a high thin cloud cover. Still bright enough to cast shadows but the clouds are keeping the temperature down a bit. By Sunday we will cool down and probably get some rain. That cool-wet weather is expected to last until mid-week. The coming three day cold event will then move on east. I think those of you in the mid and eastern part of the country will experience the remnants of this cold front soon. Stay warm and safe..... Jim

Weekend Weather 1/20 - 1/21/2024

:coffee:....Welcome to the Weekend Weather News for Indiana, currently overcast sky at 1°F.
Finally cleared the snow from the driveway. That was a 2 hour project. The wind chill factor was -20°F
and it was bone cold. Next time I will hire someone if I can afford it. So about 2" of snow on the ground.
It looks pretty everything dressed up in white. I hope you are doing well and staying warm.

Today it's going to be a little sunny, high of 15°F.
Low of -2°F. A chance of getting some more snow.
Remember to check on your family and friends.
Let's try and keep everyone Safe this season.

Sunday's high of 21°F with some sunshine will be nice.
The number for the low at 16°F.
Looking forward to next week of 30s and 40s. ....

I hope you 'Sledders' can enjoy some Ryde Time.
Remember that Spring is only 2 months away.
Stay in the Game. ....

Second day of 22 degrees. Supposed to rise to mid 30's tomorrow (Sunday) and then mid to high 40's the rest of the week. The 20's are ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccold.

The current temp in Vermont is 6 degrees and cold.

The coldest air of the season ( so far) will keep the chill around through the weekend. This morning lows were a few degrees above and below zero, with the wind chills in the single digits and teens below zero. A weak trough will bring scattered snow showers during the day. A trace to 2 inches accumulation is possible, especially in the mountains. It will be cold with highs in the single digits to low teens. Tonight will dip below zero in the colder valleys.

Sunday will be slightly a better day,but still cold with highs in the teens. It will be dry day with partly sunny skies. Sunday night will be cold again before temps warm up during the week.

No big storms are on the way for the week., and temps will warm up. Monday will be much better and more pleasant for being outdoors, partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20's and low 30's. Overnight lows will fall into the 20's . A week system will then bring light snow Tuesday during the day and overnight , with a few inches of accumulation possible. This will change to valley showers and mountain snow showers on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will continue to mostly cloudy with a chance for showers and snow showers. It will be on the mild side for late January, with highs in the mid to upper 30's and lows in the upper 20's and 30's.

Only 3 more months until :spyder2:

Was 51*f at sunrise this fine Sunday morning. Sunny and clear, hopefully warming up into the 70’s.

Weather is certainly not the concern, we need all these Snowbirds to leave, since they make a nice day nasty with their attitudes and bad driving habits. Will be awesome when they go home, and paradise is restored, even if we deal with extreme weather like hurricanes and tropical storms.

Light rain on and off all day here in the desert. Very little wind..... less than 5 MPH. The temperature is "flat", staying between 50 and 56 degrees for a high and low. Just finished my 1st cup of hot coco. Have a second one ready when the spirits move me. The next 2 days will be clones of today. Stay safe..... Jim

Made to the 50’s here yesterday, so had run some errands on the Spyder. Fired right up and ended up putting some miles running around town.

Monday 1/22/24

:chat:...Welcome back from the Weekend currently we have overcast sky and 24°F. Going to be starting to warm up this week.
Maybe get up as high as 50°F on Wednesday. ....
Definitely a large change from the Weekend (-12°F - 0°F). We have a ice warning tonight and tomorrow morning.
I am glad that I am retired and don't mess around with the driving conditions with ice.
Those of you who want snow I hope you have enjoyed your snow.

Remember to be Safe and Stay Healthy
Stay in the Game. Watch your favorite movies.

Today's high is 32°F with some clouds.
Low of 30°F. Chances rain and ice are 80%.

Who is going to win the Super Bowl?
I am going to go with the Bill's at this time.
Time will tell. ....

We got the freezing drizzle as predicted. Currently 35 above and headed to 39 or so. That should take care of the frozen spots by tomorrow. Meanwhile, we are not leaving the driveway.

I just checked the weather map. Yesterday's wet weather has left the desert and has moved on to eastern Texas as it continues its journey cross country. Today is overcast here but otherwise dry. Temperatures in the 50s. The breeze is starting to pick up a bit ahead of another really big rain storm coming to us from California. That storm is expected to impact us late this evening and into tomorrow. It's going to be a real wet one. But, by tomorrow afternoon we should be back to sunshine. I'll be glad. I didn't buy my little convertible to drive around in the rain with the top up! It stays home safe and dry and Old Buick gets called into action when the weather gods are angry. Stay safe..... Jim

Tuesday 1/23/24

:coffee:...Well folks the ice/rain is happening now. Luckily for me the temperatures are going up later this morning.
Currently we have overcast sky and 33°F.
The rain and warmer temperatures will make the snow disappear...........melt away.
So the lunch out with some friends is still in the place.

Today we will have off and on all day rain. High of 40°F.
Low at 37°F with rain showers tonight.

Stay Safe and Healthy. ....
Spring is only 2 months away here in Indiana.

The current temp in Vermont is 27°F and partly cloudy. Feels like 21°.

We currently have a Winter Weather Advisory which was issued @ 3:39 PM EST lasting until Jan 24 @ 1:00PM EST.

What........ Snow Expected. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.

Where....... The Central and Southern Champlain Valley of Vermont and New York, as well as South-Western St Lawrence County of New York.

When........ From 7PM this evening to 1PM EST Wednesday.

Impacts.... Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

Additional Details........ Snow will develop across the region from South to North this evening and tonight, leading to a slippery Wednesday morning commute. After a brief lull around midday, precipitation will return as rain late Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

There are no major storms forecast in the near future, but there will be a series of smaller disturbances that will have an impact on your goings-about over the next several days.

The first disturbance will come through this Tuesday and last into Wednesday morning with a round of light snow. Most of us will end up with about 1-3" of new snow out of this system, with a bit less near the Canadian border, and a bit more in the higher elevations of our Central and Southern areas.

After a lull in the action for much of Wednesday, the next disturbance will move in late Wednesday into early Thursday. This will be a little warmer, so what falls out of the sky will be in the form of rain. But with colder air near the ground in some spots, that rain could freeze up on surfaces, leaving a light glaze of ice. Those colder spots are in the areas East of the spine of the Green Mountains, the St Lawrence Valley of Western NY, and parts of the Adirondacks.

Another lull in the action will happen for most of Thursday. The next system will come through starting Thursday night and last into Friday. Again, that disturbance will bring mostly rain, but it could begin and end with a bit of wintry mix.

After a quiet but cloudy day on Saturday, another system will move in for Sunday extending into early Monday. That one looks like it could bring us more accumulating snow.

Temps will be staying a good deal warmer than normal for this time of the year, but it will finally cool down as we get into the start of next week.
