Yesterday, I competed in the Sportsman Motorcycle class at our local drag strip. Was the inaugural race for our track returning to NHRA sponsorship. Dropped my personal best passes to a 1.855sec 60’ time, 5.212sec 330’ time, and 8.054sec 660’ (1/8 mile) time. Had the only stock-ish bike amongst a group of full race bikes with delay boxes, trans brakes, air shifters, and wheelie bars. Took out the current track champion in round two, thanks mostly to a .011 reaction time. Had a good time, made some new friends, and didn’t hurt parts or rider.

Unfortunately no, I have had some unexpected expenses come up so I am holding off on those until next pad change.

I just did the front and rear pads for now. Those will probably hold me over until my winter maintenance next year and I'll revisit them at that time.

Moved my Spyder to the small side of the garage so I could change the oil in and rebuild the fuel petcock on my kz750B... all in turn.

My wife made made me rhubarb pie with large helpings of vanilla ice cream.

Ice cream is the best, especially vanilla.

Was going to go for a ride but it was 100°F again.

@mecsw500, try vanilla ice cream with maple syrup.

I put some vanilla ice cream in a dish, and pour some VT. Maple Syrup on it in the bowl with the ice cream.

This afternoon, I went for a ride, and on the return trip I got some ice cream.

After I had the ice cream, I had to pull over and put my rain jacket on.

It was the high nineties again today. Just had a ten minute thunderstorm at 10:00 pm.

I tried the maple syrup on my ice cream when we went to Vermont. Went to a maple syrup farm and I tried it there. It was good, but I have to watch my sugar level.

Had more rhubarb pie and ice cream this evening and it’s all gone now. Still have wife’s blueberry muffins for dessert tomorrow and just bought more Farr’s ice cream.

I let both my Spyders take the week off. Rode the BMW K1600 B to Bowling Green, Ky to ride with some old friends. One of my buddies did ride along with me on his 2020 RTL and another on his Harley RG3. Did a total of 1776 miles. The bike handled things well, but I will say the seat is better on the Spyder than that on the BMW.

Parked her in the garage for the first time since 29th of July when I took off on what ended up being an 8,000 mile ride (Ride report in the Ride Reports forum). Tomorrow will be general cleaning and then to the dealer for the (overdue) 9,000 mile service (it's currently at 12,869 miles).

I went ahead and pulled the trigger today on the GP Cycleworks 20 inch dark smoke grey with euro flip windshield.

I was attempting to repair/repaint my old Blueridge again that was hit by a deer a couple of years ago, but both me and the blueridge decided it was time to give up and put it to rest.

I am hoping it will get here before I go back down to the dragon, so I don't get beat up again doing 2000 miles with a gauge cowl on interstates, and that is not including the "playing" while I am down there.

I've ridden my Spyder only about 3600 miles, so I'm still learning to ride it. Tonight's lesson: if I want some zippy acceleration, 4000 RPM is not going to cut it.

I was riding on a divided highway, about 60 mph in 6th gear. A doofus cage driver in front of me was behaving unpredictably, so I decided to take my first chance and zip around him to leave him in my mirrors. The chance came, and I downshifted to 4th gear and pinned the throttle open, expecting to feel a nice kick in the butt and the pretty quick arrival of 80 mph on the speedo.

Nope. Didn't happen. The tach climbed slowly from about 4000 RPM and I managed to get past the cager, but not the way I wanted or imagined.

My point of reference here is my BMW R1150RT which I've been riding for about 8 years. On that bike, dropping to 4th gear and going WOT causes me to quickly become just a memory to the driver I'm passing.

Afterwards I did experiment some with acceleration at various engine speeds. It seems like 5500 RPM is where the fun stuff begins to happen. Lesson learned.
