Monday for my new Kumho 225/50/15 rear tire for my 14 RT-L. For all the RT riders that have had a rear tire changed----what, if anything, did you do about the valve stem???

Leave it as is or change it to a right angle or drill and position it on the other side of the wheel??? If you did the later, I assume you just left the stock valve stem in it's original place???

Found the tire at Discount Tire Direct on ebay for $84 delivered to my door. Great service and very good price!!!

Got 6100 miles on the Spyder and have worn past the first set of nubs which I believe were for water evacuation. Tread depth measured at about 5-6/32 inch. Getting ready
for a couple long trips. Hope to make it into the winter months on OEM tire and then take my time replacing with the Kumho.

I got a new Kuhmo Ecsta AST from Discount Tire that arrived last Thursday and am having it installed tomorrow. I was a little concerned when I ordered from them on line, that I'd be getting an old tire, but the manufacture date is 2214 . . . the week of May 26th, 2014!

I've always replaced the valve stem when changing a tire . . . there are rubber pieces in the stem that deteriorate . . . and reusing the old one is just asking for a slow leak. I also plan to leave it as designed . . . I don't find it that difficult to get to.

I agree it's not the best place for a stem but I would not redrill the rim and add another stem.

Who are you getting to change the tire for you? I can see you local tire shop doing the front ones, but the rear??

My local shop mounted my back tire. I would think any shop that can mount tires on alloy rims could do it.

I had the dealer leave the OEM valve stem in place for the first tire change...
For the second; I went with an OEM as a replacement.
I also never had that much trouble with accessing it as-built... That's odd. :shocked: My lack of skills normally makes a bad situation, worse! :yikes:

There is a custom trike shop near me who does my inspections where I will get the new tire mounted, balanced, and installed. The nearest CanAm dealer who does WV state inspections is over 140 miles away.
