• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trip, Maine to Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is absolutely huge, but unfortunately there are very limited camping sites and you will need reservations. It’s not a place to go and think you can pitch a tent anyplace. Be prepared and ready for drastic temperature changes. It can be 90 degrees during the day and 25 degrees at night. It is not a really friendly place with many places to stop for refreshments or food. It’s beautiful, but rugged for sure. I traveled it from the South to the North end and it’s a very long drive.

HI Blacklightning,

When are you going to be riding in Vermont?

What routes are you taking in Vermont?

Deanna
Still working on it. Really haven't nailed down a 100% positive route through there yet. Once we leave Yellowstone and the upper Mid Western States, a lot will depend on how much energy we have left and how close we are coming to our 8 week deadline. Right now, we are a wondering mess, with so much to see. But we have a general direction and are tying it all together 2-3 days at a time. We were supposed to leave on this coming Tuesday to go towards Florida. But there is a front coming in that looks like rain all the way. We know we will get caught in rain, but not sure we want to start out our first day with approx. 500 miles of rain. If we leave on Wednesday, we will drive through it and hopefully come out dry as we go South. Short answer, not sure about Vermont, but probably there late June.

Hi Blacklightning,

Thanks for getting back to me. If/and when you do ride thru Vermont, take a ride on Route 100, which is a scenic North-South Highway that runs thru the center of Vermont. It is a very popular route, going thru small charming small towns and beautiful scenery. The length of Route 100 is 216.7 miles, making it the longest numbered highway in Vermont. The route offers stunning views of the Green Mountains, rolling hills, and numerous charming towns. This route is the Eastern border of the Green Mountain National Forest.

There are some popular destinations along Route 100, like Stowe, known for its world class skiing and charming downtown; and Waterbury, a lively town with vibrant arts and culture scene, located between Stowe and the Mad River Valley.

Also in Stowe, there is another interesting route, Route 108, know as Smugglers Notch, which is a seasonal road in Vermont that connects Stowe and Jeffersonville, passing thru a scenic pass in the Mount Mansfield State Forest. This route is very Spyder friendly. There are places to take breaks, and it is very busy during the summer months with hikers, walkers, and tourists. This road is known for its steep and winding nature and is often closed in the winter due to snow accumulation. Tractor-trailers are banned, and large straight trucks, buses, and RV's are also strongly advised to avoid - if a bus, RV, or TT unit gets struck in the Notch, it will take several hours to get it unstuck. Route 108 is also a North-South State Highway in Northern Vermont.

Let me know when you are riding thru Vermont.

As of today( 5/9/2025) it is raining here, but next week, the weather Is supposed to be sunny with temps in the 80's.

Agreed... I stayed in Jackson Hole for 4 nights as I visited Yellowstone. Most hotels/motels or places to stay as such were $300/$400 a night.
