• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey folks Don here from F4 Customs. Kim and I are thinking of doing some traveling with her RT and my F3L and want to purchase a trailer for behind my F3. Can you suggest what brand is the best to pull and what hitch you purchased? Also what needs to be done for the wiring?

Well if you stick with the brp hitch it would still have a warranty and comes with the module wiring. As for the trailer the brp 622 works well as does the freedom trailer. Others use off brand trailers. I have the 622 and a escapade trailer both pull well and can hardly tell that I am pulling a trailer

I've pulled an Aluma for the last 3 years. Less than half the cost of of the BRP trailer. Never an problem. ride is good. I haul a very expensive dialysis machine in mine and it has never been wet or banged up from the ride. Comes in a 4' and 5' foot model.
 
i have trailer from one of the sponsors mini trailer. got it during winter & over the past 2 months i have put about 500 miles on it so far and i use it every sunday, very happy with it and i have the brp hitch. i still suck at backing up though. what i like about it is i can tie stuff down on top.

By design, the Can Am trailers utilize trailing arm suspension and not a full width axle. Doing this allows the trailer to sit lower, but more importantly, positions a portion of the fully loaded cargo below the axle center, and a partially loaded trailers cargo entirely below the axle center. This makes the center of gravity lower by many inches, and the tendency for rollover less.

There are all sorts of cool trailers to choose from though. One type trailer has a swivel hitch. Designed for motorcycles, it does not use a ball and cup type hitch, but rather a swiveling setup that allows a motorcycle to lean in corners. One Spyder owner had hers roll completly over after an inside tire rolled over I believe an orang cone as she pulled out of a parking lot. The ball and cup design may have acted as a roll stop, and prevented this.

I have a 622 trailer and cannot say enough about it, by adding the trim lights from TricLED I now have a more beautiful but safer rig as well.

I purchased my hitch and haarness from Pierre @ Can-Am Spyder Accessories. I watched his video while I did the installation and it worked out perfectly. Easy peezy lemon squeezey!

The reason that I bought the hitch from Pierre was that this hitch adds a little style and decor, as opposed to being a hunk of steel robbing the form of the back of the Byke. Yes, of course it is heavy duty, solid construction and built to last. I took it a step further and put reflective tape over the entire RT area, hence making it even better looking and defensive as well.

When, sfety, function and beauty combine, we have a winner!

RT 622 is my choice

My 2014 RTS and my wife's 2016 F3L (both with Can-Am hitch) both have pulled our 622 thousands of miles, including to Homecoming in Valcourt and out to South Dakota (while enjoying the higher speed limits out west). The only problem we're had is we forget it is there! It pulls great, is very roomy and keeps everything inside dry.

Don, my suggestion is that you pull the trailer behind the F3L instead of the RT. It pulls better and you’ll get better gas mileage than you would with the RT. You can’t go wrong with the BRP hitch and trailer, I’m pretty sure I have over 200,000 miles on my 2010 RT622.

You may want to add a hitch to the other Spyder in case you have a Spyder breakdown you wouldn’t have to leave your trailer.

I suppose you are looking for a cargo trailer and not a camping trailer?

We had a Harbor Freight Tag-Along that worked wonderfully for us, used it for about three years. When I went back to two wheels I needed a different type of cargo trailer so I sold the Tag-Along and bought a Kip Moto SherpaX single-wheel trailer for my CTX700 and it works great to haul the extra gear when we go camping. The wife still tows the camper with her RT.

We took a 2-up trip on her RT down to Kill Devil Hills and needed some extra cargo space so I rigged a hitch adapter on her Can-Am hitch to fit the SherpaX. If it wasn't for the two whirlygiggers you really can't tell it is back there. Not the trailer that most Spyder folks would tow but it is what we had at the time.

It was near Halloween so Junior insisted on going with us.
