Trailer Lights NOT working - Need some troubleshooting advice !

Good afternoon,

Went riding this afternoon with my trailer and I know for sure that my lights were working when I left and about 20 minutes into the ride, they stop working.

Got home, check the fuse and the fuse for the trailer module was blown. NOW, as soon as I try to put a fuse in, it blows right away.

Would someone help me to start the troubleshooting..do I got straight to the trailer module and check wiring.

Note: The trailer module fuse also blows with my trailer disconnected from the bike (2014 RT Limited)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Short?

Sounds like a possible short between the module and the plug for the trailer on the bike. Being an electrical tech I've had my share of shorted wire issues. The only way to troubleshoot a short is to disconnect things, put a good fuse in and then start hooking things up one at a time until the fuse blows. You found your problem then. Good luck!:yes::yes::yes: Don't rule out the module.

Thank you very much. Will let you know when I find the problem.

:agree:
sounds like the problem is on bike, either the module or wires leading to it:dontknow: Slow & grueling process to hunt down:banghead: with it blowing fuses no trailer connected you can try cheaper lower amp fuses till you find the short. Be sure it is not interfering with your regular lights:yikes:, look mainly for a ziptie to tight or in bad location near a pinch point. Try to test without plugging in trailer if you can. If dealer installed it contact the tech & see if they had to do something special on yours, routed funny or extra anything. nojoke Good luck
