• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How did I mess this up?!!! Removed the frunk to do some work, ran the Spyder with it off, & now have all sorts of warnings & Limp Home Mode!! Help?!

Over the Holiday break I finally got around to working on my 2016 RTL. Installing the Baja Ron Shock Adjusters, Oil Change, New Bumpskid, etc. After lifting the bike and placing it on stands and blocks. I proceeded to remove the Frunk to facilitate the shock adjuster install and to clean my radiators and other maintenance items the the removal of the frunk would make easier. While waiting on the oil change kit from Lamonster, I proceeded to install the shock adjusters, clean the radiators, and change the battery mounting since it was easily accessible. Once the oil change kit arrived, and since the bike was on blocks, I started the engine with the frunk removed to warm the engine oil thinking it would be alright. All types of sensor warnings, check engine, and brake failure warning which I thought were due to the removed frunk, panels and disconnected plugs. I thought that this would be corrected once all of the items were reinstalled and plugs reconnected. After installing the frunk and plugging in all of the disconnected plugs, I restarted the bike to see that the check engine light was still on and now the bike is in Limp Home mode.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I would double check with all the connections and drive it locally and see if the warning light shuts off. May have to do this a few times shutting it down and restarting. Worked for me the last time I raised the back to realign the belt and got warnings. Mine shut off in the first ride. Good luck. At least you know your warning system is working.

If you started the Spyder with the frunk removed you ran the engine with all the wiring harness connections unplugged, and tht's what caused the codes. when you get it all reassembled they should disappear. Been there, done that.

And if you ran the Spyder in gear with the rear tire spinning in the air, you'll get all sorts of codes due to the different wheel speeds sensed... A careful ride around the block should fix those. ;)

Yes, that's what I did exactly. That's when the brake failure came on. Thanks for the good suggestion. I'll let you know what I find out.

You're lucky you got it started! I tried to do just about the same thing with my 2012 and it wouldn't start at all without the wires and plugs hooked up! I think most if not all of the codes will clear themselves when you get it out on the road. If not, you'll have to take it to someone with BUDS.

Well, at least you're halfway done; you don't have to limp home. As mentioned above, put'er back together, fire her up, ride her around, and "IF" everything goes back to normal, don't do that again. Wishing you good luck.

I just finished changing out my spark plugs over the holidays, I removed the frunk to do some other things, started it up and all kinds of codes, limp mode, etc. Last time I ran it with rear tire off ground and in gear it did the same, so I wasn't too worried. Put it back together, by the time I got from my garage to my driveway all the codes went away. Same thing this time. Hope all goes well.
