• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am thinking of tinting the windshield of mt rt-s, I was thinking of a very light tint. Any one do this to theirs. Feedback is appreciated.

Yes did it and took it off, due the not staying on the windo. So how the plastic dose not athere to good. Looking thu was hard to see road at Dark time.so put new windo on. You can try but if you don't like it? You must put new windo on $$$$ so think before you do?..

Someone had posted a thread about actually tinting the deflectors with dye

You may wanna do a search, but they posted that they boiled water with black dye & put in the deflectors for like a half hour or so & the deflectors came out permantly tinted, albeit more of a bluish color than black, but still gave them a cool effect. Not sure if this is of interest to you or not, but thought I'd throw this possible option out there for ya :dontknow: Good Luck

Avoid any plastic film tints. The lexan shields give off a gas that will, in time, cause the film to bubble and deteriorate. I did this many times on sport bikes and my old boat, with bad results. Even had the professionals give it a try but still not good.

Good memory Dave! (Or was it Teddy?)
That was NorthStar who did this... Just search "Tinting" and you'll find it.

Hey guys! Michael here w/ Power Sports Wraps. Pete asked if I could shed some light on this topic, as I do a lot of window tinting as well as the vinyl wraps. As was previously mentioned standard window film (the kind you'd normally use on a car) will not work on the plastic shields. There are special window films for this application (plexi/lexan & so on). We have used translucent vinyl successfully on a spider shield though. The only problem is that the vinyl does not have the clarity that window film has. Since its not particularly made for that purpose. But it does work! Use it on headlights & tail lights all the time

Ask Pete for details regarding this film - Orcal 8300 Series

I have a tinted windshield on my motorcycle... things were just fine until we finally ran into the mother of all storms. I had to lean-over to hide from the rain "sanding" my face... problem was you couldn't see through it -- so my face got "sanded".

Moral of the story... don't ride in the rain with a tinted windshield if you plan on ever having to look through it.
