• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Through bolted Ram ball on bar?

I had no issue finding a place to mount a couple RAM balls on my RT-S, but the wife's F3s is a different story. I looked through several pages of F3 posts and tried the search function but the site won't let me search RAM because it is too short a word, so I appeal to the hive mind for some help here.

On just about every bike I have owned, I replaced a handlebar clamp bolt with one made to go through a RAM ball that's hollowed out in the center with a metal sleeve in it. Like this:

When mounted, it looks like this:

I know Lamont sells one that has a tab off to the side that the bolt goes through and he sells great products, but I would prefer the cleaner look of the through bolted version. Has anyone done this yet who can tell me what RAM part number to get or at least what the bolt dimensions are so I can work up my own?

I am taking off the one that is currently mounted on my FZ-1 (up for sale as she was replaced by a :ani29:) and if it comes down to it, I'll just pull an F3 handlebar bolt and bring it to the local Ace Hardware for a replacement that might work with that RAM ball. If someone else has already done the legwork though I would prefer to be lazy and benefit from your work instead.:roflblack:

using GoPro mounting

Man I was struggling... I bought Garmin ZUMO 390LM.. all happy came down to mounting it with original steel equipment.. No, Not even close..
So then I realized that I am using GoPro https://www.alza.sk/gopro-handlebar-seatpost-mount-d265152.htm
sorry it is Slovak page, but the picture is pretty clear. I am able to fit it to handle bars so it is great location for GPS
RAM then sells this http://www.amazon.com/Mount-GoPro-Adapter-Model-RAP-B-202U-GOP1/dp/B008YA4T8C
for me it works perfectly.. and the price was almost nothing.. + the GPS is exactly it the position when I still see the speed, rpm ..everything..
if ya interested in this I can send you some photos.. I just dont have them now with me.

Very nice..!!

have not seen this before but perfect set up for any ryde. JT's Machine Shop (sponsor on home page) makes some nice mounting bars and I have seen Lamonts but this is a snap. Would drill one out myself but my bars are covered. Don't know the bolt size more than likely a M8x1.50. Just pull one and get the measurement you need and get one at auto parts, home depot etc.

I made one out of bar stock aluminum and bolts from local hardware store, but ordered Lamonts bar clamp
mount I like it much better, very clean look. Think the F3 bolts will be too big for Ram mount to get one through
it. I did have to drill and tap Lamonts mount to fit the 8mm bolts I got with the Ram mount. I went to Motorcycle
Supper store and ordered my parts, they sell Ram parts individually so you can make what you want. I have the GPS
Phone X and Go pro on mine. I did see one on the site that some one used a bolt and ball so it might be a go, Jim

I'm going to have the time next week to pull a bolt and see if I can make it work. If not, the plasma cutter and welder may need to come out.:yikes::yikes::shocked:
