• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

THIS JUST PUBLISHED BY NHTSA

As mentioned in another reply, I have no horse in the race, but honestly, seeing crazy stuff in aviation, I am in agreement with DrewNJ. Not being harsh or anti BRP, but with almost 50 units burned, they seriously should have done something on their own.

Stay focused and work together for a solution.

All the best with it and good luck.

50 is a somewhat small numbers, but taken as a ratio to total units produced, it is a big ratio. If that ratio was applied to the F150 line, you be talking a big number. And you can bet it would be looked into much faster.

I met another Spyder Ryder over the weekend who is not a member on this forum and her RS caught on fire earlier this year. She had just enough time for her and her husband to get off the Spyder before it was engulfed in flames. She didn't report the fire to the NHTSA which I recommended that she should. I told her about this site, the NHTSA threads and to report the fire.

Well..!!

the music has started let the side stepping begin. It's a lawyers waltz...:dontknow:...

Don't talk about lawyers. No hint of litigation. That is not what this thread is about. It is about looking at the information that is in the public domain right now, from both sides, and waiting to see what NHTSA will do. As I stated earlier in this thread, that is many months away. BRP still has to cough up a lot of stuff, and at this point, there is no indication from NHTSA how long BRP's extension will be, and if it is for all of the data or for some of the data. NHTSA has a fire lit under it's *** right now by the new head of the agency, who has decried the length of time it takes for NHTSA to get anything done. (Witness GM) If we are lucky, they will move fast on this & 2013 RT owners may finally get some sort of relief. As for how long this will take, that's anyone's guess.
No hint of it from me. I'm 100% happy with my brp product. However, I understand that its an imperfect machine. Heck, mine is apart in my garage right now waiting on a replacement thermostat. Its all good.
While I believe some people do have real issues, I also believe even more people have very unrealistic expectations.
But hey, whatever. Some people just love to complain!

drew all i ask is when i ride my 13 rt not to get a helmet full of fuel vapors and not burn my hand when removing gas cap i don't think that is to much to ask for i for the money i have spent with them this is my second spyder and i will buy another love the spyder but the need to fix it

They are trying to keep as much confidential as possible pursuant to possible Litigation! This is a standard legal move and has nothing to do with marketing.

There is nothing wrong with that . . . they are a business that must protect itself . . . I'd rather they stay in business and continue to provide replacement parts for my Spyder, as I continue to ride it through the years.

It's all in the lawyers hands now....you all, the consumers, are screwed if you expect any favorable outcome in any reasonable amount of time....[emoji57]

That is a big assumption. Given that not every Spyder has had the same problems, it makes a "one size fits all" fix very difficult. From my perspective, I've seen BRP try to resolve the issue. Most of the problems seem to have been resolved on my 2013 RT LTD . . . I no longer experience burns on my thighs after a long day of riding. Yes, my gas still boils, but I resolve that by topping off the tank with fresh (cold) gas. I have plans for other resolutions (CAT Delete, JT's air cleaner, wrapped pipes) but am waiting to see the end result of the NHTSA investigation, before spending a bunch of cash that I may not have to spend if a recall solves the issues.

I still have confidence that BRP is trying its best to resolve this, fairly, and come up with a safe, effective fix, but now that the NHTSA is involved, it makes no sense for them to take drastic steps until the government makes its final decisions as to what must be done. They owe that to their stockholders, just as much as they owe a fix to their customers.

Do I trust my Spyder? Yup . . . I've made numerous multi-day trips over the summer and fall, and am leaving in April for a 5,000 mile round trip to Tucson AZ and back . . . at 66, I'm too old to wait for "perfect" in order to enjoy what time I have left.

as far as not all spyders have the heat problem, my3 rt had a bad heat issue according to BRP itself. after BRP told my dealer what to do and what readings to take the said my bike was excessively hot compared to some others. now that being said, the gentleman who bought my bike knowing the heat problems the 13's had, says the bike does have some heat but it is bearable to him right now. he would prefer to have it eliminated but he does love the bike and he does ride it. so different heat is felt by different people.

If they all had the same problem, wouldn't all of the 2013s have burned? :dontknow:

Thx i got a call from my dealer to set time to replace the brake fluid cover mentioned. And a fuse panel cover fyi.

My 13 RTL is a little hot but it is tolerable. I too am waiting to see what the outcome of all of this is. If not resolved by next riding season...then I will go with the Cat bypass and call it a day
