There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT-S PE#0180
Received a call from Carlo at BRP yesterday to at least acknowledge that the problems with my RT have been excessive and to attempt to reassure me that BRP would make every effort to make things right. If any of you doubt the fact that my problems have been excessive, let me assure you that they have. I've had more than one long trip interruped becuase the machine experienced something major preventing ridding home, causing a trailering experience and this last problem caused me to cancel plans for a trip to OK. This is not counting all the ridding time I've missed because the unit was in the shop waiting on parts from Canada or the shop to complete repairs. I've got over 12K on this machine and if I haden't had all these problems, I don't doubt I'd have put close to 18-20K on it this year.
On a good note, Carlo did call me and yes he reads "Spyderlovers.com" on a regular basis. Also found out that the replacement seat for my RT-S, PE is in the works so maybe that problem will be resolved soon. My dealer now has, what is thought to be, the cure for my present failure and just maybe I'll have PE#0180 back in time to roll up some miles this weekend.:ohyea:
I'd like to thank everyone here for their support during this difficult time. BUT, I MISS MY RT

Carlo phone calls

Carlo has called me and although he has not been able to solve my DPS replacement problem at least I know that he is there and willing to talk. That alone makes me willing to have positive thoughts about BRP and their customer service. MMcc

I apologize for missing a possible previous post reference your DPS replacement problem. Would you please state again?

Thanks.

Carlo was able to confirm that a DPS unit was arriving at my dealer that day and I was told I was next in line at the dealer so it went on my RTS which happen to be in the shop last week! finally go the DPS recall done

also able to confirm about the CB transmit issue is being worked on by BRP.

Update on Update

On Tuesday, my dealer received the module from BRP to repair the shifting problem on RT#0180. They installed it yesterday and called me last night to tell me that IT STILL WON'T SHIFT. They (the dealer) now thinks it's a bad solenoid and has ordered one to ship overnight. The wait resumes.
:gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:So much for taking a trip this weekend.

Carlo phone calls

Summary of DPS replacement; I emailed BRP about my frustration and having to wait 2+ months because the dealer cannot get DPS units. My spyder has been acting up, small turns 'sometimes' end up with quick swerve. Called dealer in Palm Springs CA because I am a snowbird from MN. They told me I would be placed on the 'list'. Carlo called when I posted that the list I was on was for sypder owners who did not purchase the spyder from that dealer. It seems that 9 other people are ahead of the B-list because they have to replace these customers units first even if they are not having any problems.
Carlo asked me to again call the dealer and have my contact at the dealer call Carlo and they would try to work something out. I made that call and was told they would contact Carlo. I brought the spyder to them last Monday so they could see how bad the steering problem was. They just said we know how they behave when DPS is acting up but "sorry, we must take care of our customers first" which is why I posted my frustration. Carlo has again called me but we are playing telephone tag. I know he is trying to find a way to solve this problem so hopefully something will happen in the near future. I hate to have invested this amount of money and not be able to ride the spyder without fear of sudden turns. MMcc

Folks there are, as I understand it, some 18,900 units to be replaced. Also as I understand it, BRP didn't come out with this recall until sometime in September. Now I'm no mathmatical genious and don't claim to be, but I would think that given the number of dealerships multiplied into the number of techs that they have and divided into 18,900 would suggest to me that this is gonna take an awful lot of time to accomplish.

I know I'm going to be getting the wrath of many here about what I have just said, but I'm a big boy and I can take it so give it your best shot. Rome wasn't built in a day. So if everyone will just relax and take a deep breath, BRP will accomplish what they set out to.

You know, I've had more than my share of problems with my RT-S but DPS wasn't one of them. It has been replaced, simply because I was at the dealership when all of this occured and they scheduled me first. I'd gladly of waited for those of you that DID experience problems and from reading all of the DPS concerns and failures, I'm glad I didn't have that experience. I think BRP and it's dealer network are making every effort to resolve the problem. Too bad thay don't have some system to isolate the units not having problems so that the units with real DPS problems could of been taken care of first. I do know that my dealer made an effort to take care of HIS customers (people who made their orginal purchase from him) first. He says that he has lots of service customers who purchased their units else where so I understand why he scheduled his orginal customes first. I wish everyone out there with DPS problems the best and hope your issue is corrected soon.

The issue is with the supplier of the DPS units. the dealers just could not get them back even though they sent old units to BRP.

the vendor BRP used was having issues earlier but Carlo said that it was very very recently resolved so the pipeline should be refilling with DRP units to install at the dealers ... hopefully that is the case and those waiting not for lack of techs to install but lack of the parts available for the RTs will be able to get them done. up north we are trying to get them done before the snow falls ...

Frank3 sorry to hear you missed so much riding this year. It is real upsetting when you have to cancel plans due to mechanical. Hopefully you will get some of the problems ironed out in the next few days.

Last week we got a new DPS on the 09 SE5 and it is now a great machine to drive. We were hoping to get a new one on one of the 08's this week but the dealer didn't get a kit in. Here's hoping there will be one available in Lake City FL next week. Have a great weekend folks and please ride 'em safely! Ken krb1945

Ridiculous ..........

I'm to the point where I really don't give a flyin' rat's @ss about how many DPS units they have to beg, borrow, produce, steal ... if it's a potential safety issue to my friends, family and me ... then they should tell us not to ride and reimburse us for the loss of use until they get their DPS act together. They sure as hell didn't have any problem accepting the $ 90K that I will have paid to them.

Semper Fi to your grandson.
Good luck in Lake City;I've been 7th on the list in Ocala for over 2 months and I bought mine there.
Carlo also called me on the 3rd of November to see if he could help, but so far it hasn't helped. I've tried to get him to send it to another dealer, but with the backlog I don't see it happening soon.

Dealer just called and looks like PE#0180 will be ready tomorrow (Saturday). It's been 20 days this time and I'm really anxious to have it back. Got a tell you folks, even though I've had ALL these problems, I really miss having it. This RT was THE ONLY reason I still get to ride. I'm 66 and my last experience on 2 wheels left me in the hospital for 2 days with a bunged up leg and concussion. It was all my fault. Going ito a curve with slope toward outside and my brain froze. Anyway, nuf said. I love to ride and thank god the Spyder was available to me to allow my continuation. I'll never be on 2 wheels again and really respect those of you, at my age, who still are. Even though I now have lots of reservation about making a long trip on this warranty hog, I'm about as giddy about getting it back again as the first time I took delivery. Wish me luck and thanks again to Carlo for all his help.
