• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder 'RT' copy

I wish they would take care of the customers who paid for stuff first and not spend so much time on posting what they plan on coming out with. While on phone giving credit card number he was punching it in at that very moment, before we hanged up my credit card was charged he then told me he will ship next day using USPS priority mail which take 3 days and it is over a week already. Same thing when I ordered one of his windscreen, I waited three weeks.

One of Marcel's biggest problems is that one customer gets top notch customer service :firstplace: and the next customer gets blown off :cus:. Or one day he's great and the next day you can't get ahold of him or get him to do what he promised for weeks. Thats why there is a love him / hate him attitude amongst his customers. I have had great dealings with him a number of times  but friends of mine have gotten the opposite :( and I trust their report.

Gotcha...one thing is 100% true 100% of the time...Evan is a class act...if only all merchants were like that...

Marcel must know that he's talked about here. You would think he'd be dedicated to making everyone here who orders from him really happy...

Oh well...maybe in time...

:agree: 100%.

I don't doubt that many have had great dealings with him, and I can deal with him screwing a few of us over and blowing our problems off - but my main issue is that he is ambivalent to it all.

I think it's great to have many people making Spyder items.

Whether BRP has officially released the name or image of the 'Spyder RT' or not is a moot point - I'm sure they file patents and copyrights on such things far before actually releasing them. My guess is that Marcel will learn this lesson the hard way someday. Trust me - as someone that was sued for copyright infringement years ago by a HUGE corporation in NY - it doesn't matter how small you are or how minor the infringement - they will nail you.

I agree that it is great that there are so many after-market offerings for such a new product like our:spyder2:'s

My own opinion is the "R/T" is rather a generic term - much like "Aspirin" is... after all, there is the BMW R/T motorcycle as has already been mentioned -- plus the Dodge Challenger SE and R/T models.

I'm spoiled by my past riding on my 1982 Honda Interstate -- I just miss having a full fairing. My CalSci XL is far too short for me by a couple of inches - plus it provides no arm protection. I'm NOT a sport bike rider, but rather a 'sit up straight and keep the elements off me' type of ryder (I did not like the way the Honda GW conversion handled- plus $$$).

Sure is nice that so many products are out there to suit all tastes.:2thumbs:

Got screwed by him, never will I trust the likes of him. As far as I am concern "Fox in a Sheep clothing". I agree with a comment made earlier. he is good to some and screws the rest. The rest be aware.:spyder:

I will refrain comment one way or another on Marcel or his business but in reference to the RT in the name; how is that any different than the name Spyder Roadster? Many products, mostly cars have been called a Spyder or a Roadster. Isn't RT just an acronym for Road Touring tacked on the end of a bike name? If I am wrong let me know. I think this is more generic and not a copyright issue. Now if he was using the "y" factor or it's logo, that would be a whole other story. Just my .02 for what it's worth.

Marcel is on the "good guy" list as far as I am concerned. Ordered a windshield and overtorqued the last bolt; heard a crack and windshield snapped at lower right bottom. Marcel shipped me a new one at no cost even though I told him I would pay for it since I thought it was my mistake. I have ordered from NMN and ISCI with no problems also.:2thumbs:

:agree: BMW started using the "RT" model designation in the 1970s, BTW. For them it stands for Reise-Tourer, or "travel tourer". As to the use of the Spyder name, let's hope that Porsche and several others don't take exception.

i have his windshield , which he replaced for slider not sliding easily, and have talked with him over the phone. he will take care of the problem IF you get a hold of him which is not easy. i think he over extends himself trying to everything himself. Was my product from him shipped promptly? nope. Did i have to call him about 30 times to finally reach him? yes. But when i did i explained what's going on with my slider and he said without hesitation, i will ship you a new one.

i left couple of negative comments on his site at begining due to his lack of promptness to handling things but i realized f1 still has mom and pop type of "feel" to it and was ran that way and he does have good products so i gave him some slack. not the most efficient co. but have their moments. :D

everybody complaints about corbin but order buy their products and wait up to 10 weeks (never understood why so long). i know he is hard to get hold of but i do believe he is trying:2thumbs:

about "RT" business, i think i know why he did it but it does make him look bad

While I agree with the 'RT' and 'Spyder' points you are making - you know darn well Marcel didn't just pick 'RT' out of the sky - he did it because BRP will be calling the new Spyder the 'Spyder RT'. We don't know for sure what the RT stands for - could be Roadster Touring, Rotten Tomato, etc.

I will stand by my opinion that he did it on purpose and that it's in bad taste to try and trump BRP's new release. A new buyer could be confused and think they can just modify a current Spyder into an actual Spyder RT with his mods - .

It seems to me that the spyder came with a windshield and unless Marcel made those shields for brp he was not the first so his statement is incorrect.

I think he's sour about them not wanting to buy and market his shields. Truth be known, Mels shield came out a bit before the F1. Hard to patent something so 'generic'.

I wonder how many saw this disclaimer before ordering an F1 shield:

He over promised me three times on delivery date of a slider, but when I got it was very happy with the product and quality. If the final trunk with arm rests product looks like his pic and I feel the price is right I would deal with him again, I would realize I would not be getting the product for a while
