Newly Bought 2010 Spyder RT for my father to enjoy his final years in life.

Wanted to share my short story behind how I’m joining and why, and hopefully, someone very knowledgeable about this 2010 replies and I can meet some helpful people here.

My name's Robb, and I found and am purchasing a 2010 Spyder RT for my father, who lost his entire leg a year ago and just barely got his prosthetic leg. My dad has been stuck in his wheelchair only ever since, and hasn’t seemed to be too happy with life. His most recent joys were his way of living previously, which lead to the decline in his health, and his old motorcycles, which he has to sell off. But he’s taken very good care of me and raised me the right way. I feel like the right thing is to obtain this Spyder for my father to help him regain some happiness. He’s only 63.

Sorry to hear about your dad's health problems, you're an awesome son for doing this for him, my prayers are with you both, I'm sure your dad will love the Spyder and welcome to Spyderlovers, this is an awesome board with very helpful, friendly people.

That's a very nice thing to do for your Dad.
I'm sorry to hear of his problems, but he raised a good son, and I'm certain he'll appreciate the gift, and hope he'll enjoy many fun and safe miles on it.
He'll definitely need the semi-automatic, and it simplifies things that he still has his right leg functionality, as the brake pedal is on the right.

We did the same for my father in law (who is Dad to me, always). No amputation, but dual hip replacements and he can't hold up a 2-wheeler anymore. We'd previously put a trike kit on my husband's first Harley, but it's too hard on him to ride. He's put more miles on his RT since Easter weekend 2025 when we got it, than he did on the Harley trike the entire 13 or so years he had it!

I never owned any sort of bike so new for me too .

Update on the process: June, getting bike checked out only saw left blinker out and been sitting so long they say the gas needed to be replaced. Everything else I think checked out. Anyone know where to do a tune up or whatever refresher for the 2010 RT? Can-Am local dealer never got back to me, but I got price lowered a little more. Wish me luck on the drive home, approx June 6th.
